NEET UG 2026, JEE Main Session 2 & More: Check the List of Top Entrance Exam Registrations Opening in January

A large number of national and state-level entrance examinations for admission to undergraduate programmes in engineering, medicine, and pharmacy are scheduled to open their application windows in January 2026. The registration process for JEE Main Session 1 has already closed, and the first phase of the examination is planned to be conducted from January 21 to January 30, 2026. Candidates preparing for higher education in technical and healthcare fields should closely follow the upcoming exam announcements. A shot overview of the major upcoming entrance examinations is provided below. 

NEET UG 2026 

NEET UG still remains the only nationwide medical entrance test at the national level, which is necessary for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical programs in India. It is held once a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA), unlike JEE Main, which has two sessions annually. 

Even though NTA has not yet issued an official notification for NEET UG 2026, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has already released the syllabus for NEET UG 2026, specifying the topics that students should prepare in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. For instance, NEET UG 2025 was held on May 4, and the registration window was open from February 7 to March 7, 2025

JEE Main Session Two 

JEE Main 2026 Session 2 (April 2026 examination) application process is expected to start in the last week of January 2026, thereby Sessions 1 and 2 will be similar to those in the previous cycle. NTA will issue detailed instructions, exam dates, and city intimation slips after completion of Session 1 activities.

BITSAT

BITSAT is the entrance examination conducted for admission into undergraduate programmes at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) campuses. The BITS Admission Test application process began on December 15. The application window will remain open till March 16 for Session 1, while for Session 2, applications will be accepted between April 20 and May 2, 2026. Candidates interested in appearing for the examination must apply online through the official BITS admission portal.

MHT CET

The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) scores are utilized for admission into engineering, pharmacy, and certain allied health programmes in Maharashtra. Beginning with the 2026–27 academic year, the examination will now be held twice annually.

From 2026 onward, MHT CET will take place in April and May, and appearing in at least one session will be compulsory for students aspiring to secure seats in professional courses. Sitting for both sessions will remain optional. For those who take both attempts, the higher score will be considered, aligning the process with JEE Main’s score-normalisation approach.

A tentative schedule issued by the authorities states that MHT CET 2026 (PCM group) will be conducted from April 11 to 19, while the PCB group examinations are planned between April 21 and 26. In addition, the MAH MBA/MMS CET 2026 will be organised from April 6 to 8.

AP EAMCET

The Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test (AP EAMCET) is a major examination for entry into engineering, agriculture, and pharmacy courses in the state. For 2026, the examination is scheduled to be conducted on May 12, 13, 14, 15, and 18. The registration facility will be made available on the authorised portal. For the Agriculture and Pharmacy streams, the exam will be organised across four sessions.

KCET

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) as a qualifying test for admission to engineering, veterinary, and pharmacy programmes in the state. As of now, the exam conducting body has not released the official examination dates or application schedule for 2026.

However, in 2025, registrations started on January 23, 2025, and closed on February 24, 2025. The examination was then conducted from April 16 to 18, with papers held in two shifts per day—the morning shift from 10:30 am to 11:50 am and the afternoon shift from 2:30 pm to 3:50 pm.

NIFT

The National Testing Agency commenced the registration process for NIFT 2026 on December 8 via its official portal. The applicant must fill out the exam application form online. Forms submitted up to January 6, 2026, will not attract any late fee. Applications submitted between January 7 and 10, 2026, will require candidates to pay an additional late fee of INR 5,000.

VITEEE

The application process for VITEEE 2026 is currently in progress. Registrations for the exam started on October 24, 2025. According to the official notification, the tentative last date for submitting the application is March 31, 2026. The exam is going to be held from April 28 to May 3, 2026. The results will be announced in the second week of May 2026, followed by online counselling for admissions.

WBJEE

The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination - WBJEE is intended for aspirants seeking admission to Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, and Architecture programmes in government and private institutions across West Bengal. The exam is administered annually by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) in an offline OMR-based format.

The exact dates for WBJEE 2026 are not available yet. Still, the registration window is anticipated to open in January 2026 based on previous years. Applicants must fill out the form correctly, pay the required fee, and submit it before the deadline, which is likely to be in February 2026.

OJEE

The authorities of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) will issue the notification for OJEE 2026 on the official website. The registration process is likely to start in the last week of January 2026 and end in March 2026. For reference, OJEE 2025 was conducted between May 2 and May 12, 2025. Its registrations started on January 30, 2025.

AEEE

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, has opened the registration window for AEEE 2026 for BTech aspirants. The last day to register for Phase 1 applications is January 15, 2026. Qualified candidates should complete the application form on the official website and pay the 1,300 registration fee online. AEEE is a national-level engineering entrance examination conducted for admission to the different campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.

TS EAMCET

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad - JNTUH will conduct the Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture, and Medical Common Entrance Test - TS EAMCET 2026. The computer-based examination for engineering courses will be conducted on May 9, 10, and 11, 2026, whereas the exams for agriculture and pharmacy courses are scheduled for May 4 and 5, 2026.

CUET PG

The Common University Entrance Test – Postgraduate CUET PG is organised by NTA for students aspiring to pursue postgraduate programmes offered by Central, State, Deemed, and private universities, along with other participating institutions. The registration process began on December 14, 2025, and will close on January 14, 2026.

In this cycle, NTA has introduced greater flexibility regarding test centres. Candidates can now choose up to four preferred cities for examination while completing the application form. These cities must fall within the candidate’s current or permanent residential state.

TANCET

Anna University administers the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) for aspirants seeking admission into MBA and MCA programmes offered by participating colleges in Tamil Nadu. Over 200 institutions across the state accept TANCET scores. Although the official notification for TANCET 2026 is yet to be announced, the 2025 application process commenced on January 24, 2025, and a similar timeline is anticipated for the upcoming session.
