TANCET Exam 2026: The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test or TANCET is a state-level entrance examination of Tamil Nadu conducted by Anna University. It offers admission to more than 200 colleges in the state into different PG programs such as MBA, MCA, M.E., M.Tech, M.Arch and M.Plan. For the 2026-27 session, the application form fill-up dates were between 16 March to 16 April 2026 and the exam took place on 09 May 2026. The results for TANCET 2026 are expected to be released on 23 May 2026 on the official website. To be eligible for TANCET, candidates must hold a recognized bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks for General and 45% marks for reserved categories. Interested or willing candidates to appear for TANCET must apply online through the official website of Anna University.

TANCET is a state-level entrance exam in Tamil Nadu conducted by Anna University, Chennai. It offers admission into various postgraduate programs in various institutes such as the Department of Management Studies, Anna University, Chennai, PSG Institute of Management, Coimbatore, College of Engineering, Guindy, University of Madras, Chepauk, and many more. The TANCET Exam took place on 09 May 2026 and the results can be declared on 23 May 2026 (Tentative). Anna University has declared its cut-offs and candidates started their registration for counselling from 5 June and continued till 30 June 2026.

Candidates willing to enrol in TANCET should have at least 50% marks in their Bachelor's for General and 45% for reserved category (ST/Sc/OBC) from a recognized university. The fee for the application form for TANCET varies according to the program. An approximate amount of the application fee for TANCET is INR 1000 for the unreserved category and INR 500 for the reserved category.

Eligibility Criteria for TANCET 2026

TANCET offers admission in 6  various courses, and its flagship courses are MBA and MCA. Here is a general list of eligibility criteria for programs offered by TANCET. 

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks for General and 45% marks for ST/SC/OBC with mathematics from a recognized institute.

  • Students in their last year of graduation can also apply for TANCET. 

  • Candidates should have a state domicile of Tamil Nadu. 

  • There is no age limit for TANCET

The TANCET application form for 2026 was released on its official website on 16 March 2026. The last date to fill out this application form was 16 April 2026, followed by the examination on 09 May 2026. Filling out the application form is the first step in the admission process, further candidates need to download the admit card which is required at the time of examination. 

Here are the steps to follow while filling out the application form for future reference.  

Step 1: Visit the official website of TANCET - https://www.annauniv.edu.

Step 2: Click on the 'Click Here' button available against the text reading 'For Online Registration' 

Step 3: Enter the details, create a password, and choose a PG program you want to pursue. 

Step 4: Submit the application form 

Step 5: Now log in using the registration number and password. 

Step 6: Fill in personal details such as gender, state, Pincode, etc., and upload the required documents. ( Example, Aadhar Card, PAN card, ID, etc). 

Step 7: Pay the application fee online using a Credit Card/Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. 

Step 8: Download the application form and keep printouts for future reference

TANCET Pattern and Marking Scheme 

TANCET is a pen-and-paper-based offline examination, which includes Multiple Choice Questions. The exam will include a total of 100 questions, and 2 hours will be provided to complete the paper. Each question carries 4 multiple choices, and candidates need to choose the right one, marks will be given for the right choice or answer.

TANCET 2026 Admit Card

Anna University released the admit card for TANCET 2026 around 12 days before the exam, that is on 27 April 2026. Candidates can easily download the admit card from the official website. Students may not be allowed in the examination hall without an admit card. 

Steps to Download the TANCET Admit Card:

  • Visit the official website of TANCET.

  • Click on the Admit Card link.

  • Log in using your registered credentials (User ID and Password).

  • Submit the details and download the admit card.

  • Take at least two printouts for future reference.

Things to Carry on Exam Day:

  • Printed copy of the Admit Card.

  • A valid ID proof (Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Passport, etc.).

  • Passport-size photograph.

TANCET Answer Key 2026

Anna University released the provisional answer key for TANCET 2026 on 12 May 2026, following the exam held on 09 May 2026. The final answer key is expected to be published on 23 May 2026, ahead of the result announcement. Candidates were able to access and download both versions of the answer key in PDF format directly from the university’s official website. These documents served as helpful tools for verifying responses and accurately predicting scores. Additionally, candidates had the opportunity to report any discrepancies in the provisional answer key through the university’s online portal before the final version was released.

TANCET Result 2026

Anna University announced that the TANCET 2026 results will be released on 23 May 2026 (Tentative), following the exam held on 09 May 2026. Candidates accessed their results on the official website by logging in with their registered email ID and password. The results were published in the form of a scorecard, which included key details such as the candidate’s name, marks obtained, percentile score and rank. After the result declaration, qualified candidates moved on to the counseling and seat allocation process, where they selected their preferred courses and colleges based on their performance.

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Chennai, is responsible for releasing the TANCET 2026 cut-offs and conducting the counseling process for qualified candidates. The cut-off marks represent the minimum qualifying scores or ranks required for admission into participating institutes offering MBA, MCA, M.E., M.Tech, M.Plan and M.Arch programs. Candidates can check their obtained marks and ranks by visiting the official website of Anna University. The TANCET 2025 cut-offs were released based on the number of students appearing, the difficulty level of the questions, the number of questions and many more.

A good strategy helps you to crack the TANCET examination on the first attempt. Candidates should stay determined and motivated throughout the journey.  

Here are some of the preparation tips that you can apply to crack the TANCET. 

  • The first step is to buy and source the best resources available. It can be books, e-papers, previous year papers, and many more. 

  • The candidate should understand the exam Pattern, marking scheme, syllabus, and more 

  • Create a study plan and dedicate a specific amount of time to each subject every day, irrespective of any weekends. Prioritise the subjects you are weaker at and study them part by part. 

  • Include mock tests, practice papers, and sample papers for better practice. It will help you understand the difficulty level and pattern of the question paper. It will also help in monitoring your preparation.  

  • Candidates should revise the studied subjects regularly. A Gap in revision can result in low retention. 

  • Allocate time per question paper and try to complete it in the given time. Avoid taking extra time on the practice time, and also start with easy question sets and then go for the tougher ones.
