

Christ (Deemed to be University) was initially established in 1969 as Christ College. It was awarded autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2004 and was also declared an Institution of Excellence in the same year. It was subsequently elevated as a deemed-to-be University in the year 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has conferred Christ University with an A+ grade, and it ranks 60th on the list of the best universities in India according to the outcome of the NIRF 2024 rankings by the Ministry of Education.
