The elite Institute IIT Gandhinagar has introduced three fully residential postgraduate diploma programmes that revolve around generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and next-gen tech skillsets only. The three new programmes are:
PG Diploma in AI and Agentic AI Engineering.
PG Diploma in GenAI and Data Science Engineering.
PG Diploma in AI-Powered Software Engineering with Cloud.
Each programme is a half-year, on-campus postgraduate diploma program which delivers more than 600 hours of intensive, boot-camp style learning, which is the equivalent of a two-year typical industry exposure.
Why it Matters
The Director of IIT Gandhinagar, highlighting the point, mentioned, “The objective is to develop future-ready professionals who can create with technology, not just learn it.” The curriculum is essentially project-based the participants from the very first day will be constructing and deploying industrial-grade solutions.
Classroom theory is only a small part of it: students will participate in application development, reverse engineering, competitive coding, and get access to AI Clinics and Idea Labs that are a part of the programme. This partnership with Futurense Technologies is one of the primary goals to set an applied engineering mindset rather than academic knowledge. A single source of Futurense’s founder and CEO states that: “We are building engineers who can think in systems, not just learn it.”
About the Admission Process
They only take in 60 students per program, thus the programmes are very selective. Admission is based on the All India National Proficiency Test (AINPT) and a multi-stage interview process. The application will open in February 2026. It will be a 70% project-based and 30% instructor-led model.
The 400-acre eco-friendly facility of IIT is where the students will stay and be mentored by the faculty and industry leaders. Alumni who do well will get 100% placement support, become an alumnus executive, and have access to the entire IIT professional network.
