SRM University AP has upgraded and expanded its on-campus Medical Centre to provide 24/7 healthcare for students, teachers and staff. The facility has increased from two beds to eight beds and now has better diagnostic and treatment equipment.
The Medical Centre has five full-time doctors, including a paediatrician, and is supported by seven trained nurses and emergency care staff. This expansion shows the University’s commitment to giving fast and easy access to healthcare for everyone on campus.
Stronger Diagnostic and Treatment Support
SRM University-AP has collaborated with top laboratories, such as Apollo Diagnostics, Durga Labs, and Ramesh Labs in Mangalagiri, to improve diagnostic services. Students who need advanced investigations, such as X-rays, scans, or specialised care, are referred to Manipal Hospital or NRI Hospital, with the University providing full transportation support, even though the University offers the best care possible on campus.
Student Affairs Director, Retired Major General Gurdeep Singh Narang, highlighted that all students are covered under health insurance, allowing cashless admission at partner hospitals for the first 24 hours. “This ensures safety and timely medical support for our students, reinforcing the University’s health and support ecosystem,” he added.
Community Outreach and Wellness Initiatives
SRM University-AP actively promotes health awareness in addition to treatment. For students, faculty, and local communities, the university regularly hosts wellness and speciality camps. Services include eye check-ups, dental camps, dermatology consultations, general health screenings, gynaecology camps, and women’s health awareness sessions covering PCOS, HPV vaccination, cervical cancer, and other health topics.
The Medical Centre also arranges talks by doctors on skin care, lifestyle-related health issues, and ways to prevent stomach and digestive cancers. To help children outside the campus, the University team will work with the Student Affairs office to hold health check-up camps for students in Classes 1 to 5 at Kuragallu PHC school.
