Dress Code for the Convocation Ceremony
Theββββββββββββββββ convocation dress of IIT Mandi is representing the institute's setting in the Himalayas. Along with formal shoes, it includes a white/off-white (Kurta-Pyjama/Salwar-Kurta/Saree) formal Indian dress for the graduates draped with a Himachali shawl and ββββββββββββββββcapped. Theββββββββββββββββ patti (woven border) on the shawl, as well as on the cap, is a very special design for IIT Mandi.
The patti is a woven one with three colours depicting the colours of the IIT Mandi logo: green, blue, and orange. Green stands for vegetation and mountains, blue for rivers and limitless sky, and orange for paths and energy. The zig-zag pattern is typical of the region. The base colour of the shawl for the 13th convocation is golden yellow for all graduating ββββββββββββββββstudents.
