Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has invited applications for its Summer Undergraduate Research Exposure (SURE) Internship 2026. The programme offers undergraduate and postgraduate students from across the country an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience at the institute. The last date to submit the application online is March 10, 2026.
According to the institute, a total of 250 internship seats are available under the programme. Out of these total seats, 100 seats are reserved for female candidates. The internship is open only to students studying in institutions other than IIT Hyderabad.
Through the SURE internship, selected students will get the opportunity to work on research projects under the guidance of faculty members and gain exposure to the research environment.
IIT Hyderabad Internship: Important Details
Applications must be submitted online through the official website of the IIT Hyderabad. Offline applications or applications sent by email will not be accepted.
The application process started on February 28, 2026, and the last date to apply is March 10, 2026. The results are likely to be announced by April 15, 2026, and the internship programme will begin on May 15, 2026.
IIT Hyderabad Internship: Fellowship and Duration
The interns who will be selected will receive a fellowship of INR 15,000 for the full two-month internship. Students who choose a shorter duration will receive INR 7,500 for one month or INR 10,000 for one and a half months.
The internship at the IIT Hyderabad will tentatively run from May 15 to July 14, 2026. The minimum duration is one month, and the maximum is two months. The programme is available in both full time and part time. The online internships are not allowed.
Selected students will get hostel accommodation on the IIT Hyderabad campus, but they will need to pay their own mess charges.
IIT Hyderabad Internship: Eligibility Criteria
Students can apply for the SURE Internship at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad if they meet the following conditions.
1st year M.Sc students in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology
1st year M.A students
2nd or 3rd year B.Tech or B.Des students (any branch)
3rd or 4th year students in an Integrated B.Tech–M.Tech programme
Other specified requirements:
Applicants must be among the top 20% of their class based on CGPA or percentage. This must be certified by the head of the institution or principal. The applicant must be a full-time regular student during the application and internship period.
IIT Hyderabad Internship: Selection Process
The selection for the SURE Internship at the IIIT Hyderabad will happen in two steps.
First, all applications will be screened, and then shortlisted candidates will have an online interview with the department or faculty mentor.
All the students will be evaluated based on their academic performance, extracurricular achievements, participation in competitions like Olympiads or NTSE and interview performance.
Selected candidates will be informed through email, and the final list will be published on the IIT Hyderabad SRC office website. Applicants who are not selected will not receive any separate communication, and the decision of IIT Hyderabad will be final.
