In a recent announcement, IIM Nagpur stated that it has launched its Case Research Centre in association with Ivey Publishing. This marks a big step toward strengthening case-based learning focused on India. The initiative is aimed at addressing the surge in demand for high-quality, contextual teaching materials reflecting India's diverse business landscape. The centre will develop case studies on Indian companies, startups, government policies, and social sector organisations to support both classroom teaching and academic research.

IIM‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Nagpur pointed out that the CRC would facilitate recording hardcore business challenges and local decision-making situations from all over India, thus becoming more relevant in management education. Presently, nine business schools have signed up as member institutions. Through‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ the intervention of experts, these schools will be imparted skill and knowledge for the development of their cases via training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes. This will enable them to have the liberty of composing their own India-centric cases instead of using global cases as a major ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌reference.

Focus on Quality, Fieldwork and Future Expansion

Ivey Publishing representatives highlighted that even with the progress of AI tools, the quality of the case still depends on thorough fieldwork, interviews and, of course, the human ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌insight. They‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ recognized that AI could be a helper for early drafts or editing, however, the core story and problem identification, which have to come from a thorough understanding of the real-world, cannot be done by AI.

IIM Nagpur further stated that the CRC will act as a joint working platform that will bring together business schools, scholars, and practitioners from all over the ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌nation. The institute plans to expand partnerships and host dedicated conferences on case writing and management research in the coming year. With this centre, IIM Nagpur aims to strengthen indigenous management knowledge creation and contribute to a richer, more relevant ecosystem of Indian business case studies.
