The Banaras Hindu University has officially released the Post Doctorate admission applications on December 07, 2025, at their online portal at bhuonline.in. The interested candidates can apply online till December 16, 2025. The university will accept three modes of admission: the National Eligibility Test (NET), the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), and direct admission through the university itself.

Candidates in arts, social sciences, medicine, Ayurveda, and sciences are going to be interviewed from January 5 to 16, whereas commerce, education, management, veterinary sciences, law, dental science, visual arts, performing arts, and agricultural sciences applicants have the interviews scheduled from January 10 to16.
BHU PhD Admission 2026: Eligibility Criteria
The following is the eligibility criteria for the BHU PhD admission 2026:
Through JRF, candidates must be qualified by UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, or other similar national bodies; a person who is applying for an assistant professor position without a JRF/NET is not allowed. The selection will be made only through the interview.
UGC NET/CSIR qualifiers from Dec 2024 or June 2025 (JRF, assistant professorship without JRF, or PhD categories) are eligible. The merit will be calculated out of 100: 70% exam + 30% interview.
The direct PhD is only for those who have top national or international scholarships that are equivalent to UGC/CSIR/ICAR levels. Senior executives (12+ years of experience, 43+ age) require the approval of the Vice Chancellor.
