2. Tamil Nadu TRB Announces Special TET Exams for 2026: Application Process and Exam Dates 

The Tamil Nadu government will hold three special Teachers Eligibility Tests (TET) in 2026, in January, July, and December. These exams are required for all teachers working in government and government-aided schools who teach Classes 1 to 8. The Supreme Court has said teachers must pass the TET within two years to keep their jobs and get promotions. Teachers close to retirement are exempt. The Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) will release the first exam notification in November 2025, with exams on 24 and 25 January 2026. Special coaching will be provided to help teachers prepare. Those who don’t pass the TET in time may face retirement. This is part of Tamil Nadu’s efforts to improve teaching quality across schools.
