The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ National Medical Commission (NMC) has released a revised seat matrix for NEET UG 2025 counselling that adjusts the total number of MBBS and BDS seats to 1,28,875 after rectifying discrepancies that were there in the previous figures. NMC's updated seat matrix for NEET UG 2025 is an essential correction made just before the last rounds of counselling. The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ revised numbers suggest that 50 fewer seats are available than what has been initially declared, so the total number of MBBS and BDS seats together is 1,28,875 now.

The decision has been made after the errors in the text and wrong reporting of the data were located in the previous release. The candidates' choice of the areas/institutions and the allotment of seats will change drastically due to the updated matrix, which will have an impact on them, particularly in places and institutions with an ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌high level of ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌competition.

Besides‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ the seat matrix correction, the NMC has proclaimed the time table for the stray vacancy round that will start on November 4, 2025. This round is very important for those aspirants who have not been allotted any seats in the previous rounds or are willing to get a better ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌option.

Key dates:

  • Registration Opens: November 1, 2025

  • Choice Filling: November 2–3, 2025

  • Seat Allotment Result: November 4 - 12, 2025

  • Reporting Deadline: November 20, 2025

What Candidates Should Do

After‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ the implementation of the changed seat matrix, it is recommended that the candidates:

  • Re-examine their choices, considering the changed availability of seats.

  • Keep an eye on the MCC portal for up-to-the-minute changes and stray round directions.

  • If one is aiming for a college with a heavy demand, it would be wise to talk over the plan again with a mentor or a counselling ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌professional.

Official Statement

An NMC spokesperson clarified: “The revision was necessary to ensure transparency and accuracy in the counselling process. We urge candidates to refer only to the official matrix and disregard earlier versions.”

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ NEET UG 2025 counselling process is changing step by step, and the updated seat matrix is a major change for the students who are going to take admission in medical and dental courses. More than 1.28 lakh seats are available now. So, candidates need to be updated and quick in making their decisions when the last rounds are ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌near.
