JoSAA Counselling 2026: First Mock Seat Allotment Result Out, Check Next Steps

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the first mock seat allotment result for JoSAA 2026 counselling on 8 June 2026 at 2 PM. Those candidates who completed their registration and locked their choices by 7 June 2026, up to 8 PM can now view their tentative allotment on the official JoSAA portal.

This mock allotment helps students to understand the likely college and course they may get based on their rank and filled preferences. It helps students to get a better understanding of their chances and plan their next steps more clearly.

JoSAA conducts counselling for the admissions to 138 participating institutes including IITs, NITs, IIITs, IISc Bengaluru and GFTIs across India. The first round of final seat allotment results is scheduled to be released on 13 June 2026.

Candidates can follow these simple steps to check the JoSAA 2026 mock seat allotment result. Candidates are advised to review their allotment and make necessary changes to their choice filling before the final seat allotment round begins.

Step 1: Visit the official JoSAA website at https://josaa.nic.in/. 

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link for “View Mock Seat Allotment 1”. This link will be available under the candidate activity board section.

Step 3: Log in using your JEE Main 2026 application number, password and security pin. Enter the details in the required field.

Step 4: After logging in, your mock seat allotment details will appear on the screen.

Step 5: Check your allotted institute and course carefully.

Step 6: Download the result and save it for future reference.

What Can Candidates Do After Viewing JoSAA 2026 Mock Seat Allotment? 

After checking the JoSAA 2026 mock allotment, candidates should first look at the seat they have been allotted and see how well it matches their preferred branch, college and course. If the student is satisfied with the allotment, they can keep their choices the same or make only small changes if they feel necessary.

If any candidate is not satisfied with the result, they should carefully update their choice list. This can include changing the order of preferences, adding safer options based on previous year cutoff trends or removing courses they are no longer interested in. Doing this can improve their chances of getting a better seat in the final allotment.

A second mock allotment will be released on 10 June for candidates who complete and save their choices by 5 PM on 9 June. This gives students one more chance to see how their updated choices may work before the final deadline for registration and choice filling on June 11.
