Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati (IIITG) was established in 2013, as an institute of national importance under an Act of Parliament in a Public-Private model. IIIT Guwahati provides quality education and fosters a strong research-driven culture among its students.
The institute offers BTech, MTech, and PhD programs in a wide range of specialisations, which include Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Sciences.
It has been ranked between the band of 151-200 in the NIRF Rankings 2024 in the “Engineering” category. The campus of IIITG is well-equipped with modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities, such as smart classrooms and high-tech laboratories. IIIT Guwahati Admission 2025
IIIT Guwahati course offerings include BTech, MTech, and PhD programs. IIITG offers BTech program in two specialisations, i.e., Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). Under the postgraduate program, IIIT Guwahati offers MTech in CSE and ECE. It also offers PhD in Computer Science and Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Sciences. Admission for the BTech program is based on JEE Main, followed by JoSAA counselling.
For IIITG MTech admission 2025, candidates are required to have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% (5% relaxation for reserved categories) marks in the qualifying degree or CPI of 6.0 (on a point-scale) in the relevant field.
The tuition fee for the BTech program at IIIT Guwahati is INR 1,37,500 per semester. The hostel rent is INR 13,750, which remains the same for all the courses. The semester fees for the MTech program differ based on the specialisation.

IIIT Guwahati Admission Eligibility Criteria 2025
IIIT Guwahati offers BTech, MTech, and PhD level programs in various specialisations: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), etc. Each of these programs has specific eligibility criteria for the 2025 academic year:
Students must have completed Class 12 with a first-class grade and JEE Main, followed by JoSAA counselling for the BTech program at IIIT Guwahati.
For the MTech program, students are required to have a minimum of 60% (5% relaxed for reserved categories) marks or CPI 6.0 (on a 10-point scale) in the qualifying degree.
IIITG offers a PhD program. Candidates must have a BE/BTech degree in Engineering disciplines or a master’s degree in relevant field, including Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Sciences. For Humanities and Social Sciences, candidates with BTech, MA, or MSc will be preferred over those who have cleared GATE, NET, and JRF.

IIIT Guwahati has a strong placement record, consistently improving its placement outcomes. The job opportunities in the top-tier company are one of the main highlights of IIIT Guwahati. In the 2023-24 placement year, a total of 158 BTech students participated in the placement drive, out of which 98 and 15 students from Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECE) streams, respectively, were offered jobs in various fields. The average salary for the CSE and ECE streams of the BTech program stood at INR 15.26 LPA and INR 13.1 LPA, respectively. The overall highest salary for the BTech program was INR 52 LPA.
IIIT Guwahati Scholarships 2025
IIIT Guwahati does not offer any scholarships to its students; however, the government offers scholarships to the students of IIIT Guwahati based on their academic performance and financial status. Apart from the Government scholarship, a few private trusts and organisations offer scholarships to students. Public sector banks also provide scholarships, assisted by IIIT Guwahati itself.
