IIT Kanpur’s Class of 2000 announced an INR 100 crore donation during their Silver Jubilee Reunion, which was held on the IIT Kanpur campus. This is the biggest alumni pledge ever made in India. The Class of 2000 wished to use the contribution to create the Millennium School of Technology and Society which will focus on technology. This announcement was the highlight of the reunion. Prof. Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur said that the INR 100 crore pledge shows a strong bond between IIT Kanpur and its alumni. They said this support will help improve teaching and research. It will also inspire students to support the institute in the future.
