The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the opening of the online registration portal for submission of the University Grants Commission (UGC-NET), December 2025 examination. As per the official notification, the online application process commenced on October 7, 2025, and the registration window will remain open until November 7, 2025. The announcement made on October 7, 2025, revealed the exam registration fees category-wise. Applicants from the General or unreserved category have to pay INR 1150, while applicants from the General-EWS/OBC-NCL and SC/ST/PwD will have to pay INR 600 and INR 325, respectively.
The UGC NET December 2025 examination will be conducted for a total of 85 subjects and in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across the country. It is a national-level examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to assess Indian nationals. Candidates aspiring to qualify for positions like Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor, or Ph.D admission, will now be able to submit their applications via the online portal.
UGC NET December 2025: Important Dates
Candidates applying for the UGC NET 2025 examination must check the complete schedule of the exam-related important dates. The announcement of the list of cities in which the exam will be conducted, the date of the admit card release, and the dates for the examination and answer keys will be notified later by the NTA. Interested candidates must apply and pay the registration fee on time and not wait for the last date to avoid technical or payment-related inconvenience.

UGC NET December 2025: Exam Pattern
The UGC NET December 2025 exam will comprise two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, with both to be conducted in the CBT format. The total number of questions will be 150, to be answered in a duration of 3 hours. There will be no negative marking for the exam, and thus, no deduction of marks for wrong answers. The medium of the exam is English and Hindi, and the total marks are 300.
