Postgraduate (PG) admissions for the session 2026-27 are expected to start soon as per the Department of Higher Education (DHE) notification for timely completion of academic schedule. The decision will bring a uniform procedure of admission and academic stability in the universities and colleges of the state.
According to the official notification, qualified aspirants need to apply online at the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal by filling out the Common Application Form (CAF). Application period Application window is open from: February 27 to March 15, 2026.
The department will hold the Common PG Entrance Test (CPET) for various post graduate courses in the month of April / May 2026. Admissions to PG programmes will be granted strictly on the basis of marks secured in the entrance examination. Officials have clarified that no other criteria will be considered during the selection process.

All universities and their affiliated colleges have been asked to start PG classes from July 10, 2026. Following the scheduled revised dates as per instructions will help to complete syllabus smoothly and conduct semester examination in time and declare the results in time.
It is aimed at streamlining the system in the wake of past years’ delays affecting the academic schedule. The move is expected to bring more discipline and predictability in the academic year for the post graduate students in the State.
