The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the NEET UG 2026 MBBS Seat Matrix for the 2026-27 academic session through its Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB). According to the latest seat matrix, a total of 1,36,939 MBBS seats are available across 823 medical colleges in India. The updated seat matrix also highlights 9,911 newly added MBBS seats, while1,27,028 seats have been continued from the existing intake.
The seat matrix released gives the detailed information on the availability of MBBS seats across different states and medical colleges. This helps NEET UG aspirants to understand the available options and plan their list of preferred colleges accordingly. However, the seat details do not include Institutes of National Importance (INIs) such as AIIMS and JIPMER, as admissions to these institutes are conducted separately. The NMC has also clarified that the released seat matrix is provisional and can be revised if any changes or approvals are made in the future.
