The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced some important updates to the NEET UG counselling process for 2026 to make the admissions process smoother for medical aspirants. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also informed state medical counselling authorities about the updated changes through an official notice. The new MCC Counselling Guidelines 2026 will ease the counselling procedure, reduce paperwork and make the overall admission process simpler for candidates across India. 

One of the major changes introduced by MCC is that candidates who receive an upgraded seat will not have to report physically to the allotted college. The seat upgrade process will be done online and will help students to save travelling time during counselling rounds.

Along with this, MCC has also introduced changes related to seat resignation, admission procedures and other counselling rules to bring more clarity for NEET aspirants. The updated process aims to make medical counselling more transparent, organised and student friendly.

• Easier NEET UG 2026 Counselling Process for NRI Quota Candidates: Candidates who are looking for admission under the NRI quota can now upload their required documents online on the MCC portal. This update will make the admission process more convenient for students as they will not have to visit colleges multiple times for document submission and verification.

• More Transparency in NEET UG 2026 Seat Selection Process: MCC has requested the counselling authorities and participating colleges to provide complete details such as available seats, fee structure, bond conditions, stipend details (if any) and other admission related information to help students take informed decisions during the choice filling process. This will help the candidates to select the colleges with better understanding and clarity.

• Training for Colleges and State Counselling Authorities: The MCC has started conducting training for medical colleges and state counselling authorities to ensure a smooth conduct of the updated counselling process. These sessions will help institutions to understand the revised online procedures and conduct the counselling process without any delay.
