The GATE 2026 answer key challenge process has officially started. Candidates who wish to raise objections against the provisional answer key can do so from February 25 to February 28 2026. The objection window is available for a limited time and students must submit their challenges before the last date.
Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati released the GATE 2026 provisional answer key along with the response sheet and master question paper on February 22, 2026. Candidates who appeared for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 for admission to MTech programmes, research courses and recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) can download the answer key PDF, response sheet and question paper from the official GOAPS portal.

Who Can Challenge GATE 2026 Answer Key?
Only those candidates who appeared for GATE 2026 are eligible to challenge the provisional answer key. If a candidate finds any discrepancy or believes that a particular answer mentioned in the provisional key is incorrect they can submit an objection during the open challenge period.
How to Submit Objections for GATE 2026 Answer Key
Candidates must follow the official process to raise objections:
Log in using your enrollment ID/email address and password.
Click on the option available to challenge the answer key.
Select the question number you want to challenge.
Give a clear and proper reason explaining why you are challenging the answer.
Upload the necessary supporting documents in the given format.
Make payment to the objection fee.
Confirm your objection and save or download a confirmation page to use in the future.
Make sure that everything that has been typed and documents uploaded are accurate and submitted properly before final submission.
GATE 2026 Answer Key Challenge Fee
The objection fee is INR 500 per question for GATE 2026. Candidates can challenge multiple questions however the fee must be paid separately for each question challenged. The available payment modes include UPI, net banking, credit card and debit card. Candidates must note that the objection fee is non refundable under any circumstances.
What Happens Once the Objection Window Closes?
After the objection window closes on February 28 2026 all submitted challenges will be reviewed by a panel of subject experts. If any objection is found valid the necessary corrections will be made in the final answer key.
The final answer key will not be open for further challenges. Based on the revised and final answer key the GATE 2026 result will be declared on March 19 2026. Candidates are advised to keep their login credentials and supporting documents ready while submitting objections to avoid any last minute issues.
