This effort is part of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, and the Tamil Nadu RTE Rules, 2011, which provide for 25% reservation of seats in the entry-level classes like LKG and Class I for children from EWS and DG. The ultimate aim is to open the door of good education to all children, irrespective of their social and economic background.

In‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ order to help applicants, the government initiated awareness campaigns at the district and block levels. The school authorities have been given the instruction to facilitate the parents in the online registration process. Moreover, helpline numbers and support centers have been established to assist in facing issues related to documentation, eligibility, and portal access.

Government’s Commitment to Inclusive Education

The Tamil Nadu government is still putting inclusive education as the first priority through the RTE framework. The department has decided to extend the deadline for the RTE Tamil Nadu admission process after more than 81,000 applications have been received. As per the department's advice, parents are expected to finish the application process a long time before the deadline in order to be safe from any last-minute troubles.
