With the NEET PG 2025 results officially declared by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on 26 June, the next step will include counselling and the seat allocation process. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will be conducting the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling, which is expected to begin with the registration anytime after 21 August 2025 for postgraduate medical admissions.

This year, over 2.30 lakh candidates appeared for the NEET PG exam, which was held on August 3. Out of which, 1.28 lakh qualified for the counselling round. The counselling will determine admissions of the candidates into MD, MS, and PG Diploma programs across various government, private, and deemed universities in India.

Key Highlights of NEET PG 2025 Counselling

The counselling process will be conducted entirely online through the official MCC portal that is mcc.nic.in. Candidates who meet the qualifying cut-off of 276 marks for General and EWS, 255 for General PwBD, and 235 for SC/ST/OBC categories are eligible to participate in the process.

The counselling will be held in multiple rounds. Which are:

  • Round 1

  • Round 2

  • Mop-Up Round

  • Stray Vacancy Round

Each round in the counselling process will include registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting to the allotted institute. Candidates must ensure timely registration and locking of choices, as failure to do so will result in exclusion from that round.

Registration Process For NEET PG Counselling:

To register, candidates must:

  • Visit the MCC website and click on the PG Medical Counselling link.

  • Enter their NEET PG roll number, date of birth, and other required details.

  • Pay the counselling fee. This includes both refundable and non-refundable components.

  • Fill in their preferred choices of colleges and courses.

  • Lock the choices before the deadline.

Once choices are locked, the system will automatically process seat allotment based on merit, preferences, category, and seat availability.

What to Expect After NEET PG Counselling 2025 Registration

After the registration window closes, MCC will release the seat allotment results for Round 1. Candidates allotted a seat must report to the respective college within the given time frame, carrying all necessary documents, including:

  • NEET PG 2025 scorecard

  • MBBS degree certificate

  • Internship completion certificate

  • Photo ID proof

  • Category certificate (if applicable)

Note:- that if the candidate fails to report to the college on time or the given date, he/she will result in losing the allotted seat and be excluded from further rounds.

State Quota Counselling

While MCC handles the 50% AIQ seats, the remaining 50% state quota seats will be managed by the respective state authorities.

Candidates are advised to keep checking both MCC and state counselling portals for upcoming updates as the MCC prepares to start the NEET PG 2025 counselling registration.
