The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced that the registration for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 is now live from 31st October 2025. Candidates can apply online through the official website before 27th November 2025 (up to 9:00 PM). The exam will be conducted between 21st and 30th January 2026. Aspiring candidates must have essential documents ready, including Aadhaar Card, UDID Card (for PwD candidates), and Category Certificate (if applicable). 

Additionally, NTA has introduced an auto-fetch feature to retrieve candidate details such as name, date of birth, gender, and address via Aadhaar authentication to streamline the registration process. A live photo capture feature has also been introduced. The Aadhaar address will not restrict candidates from selecting their preferred exam cities to ensure flexibility in choosing exam centers. 

The payment of the application fee must be completed by 27th November 2025 (up to 11:50 PM). Candidates are advised to follow instructions strictly and use only the online mode for registration. Separate registration will be conducted for the second session (April 2026), for which the application window will open later.

JEE Main 2026 Eligibility Criteria 

The following are the eligibility requirements to apply for JEE Main 2026:

  • Applicant must have passed or be appearing in Class 12 (or equivalent) in 2024, 2025, or 2026 from a recognized board.

  • No age limit to appear for JEE Main, but age limits may apply for admissions to institutes.

Subjects required: 

Physics and Mathematics compulsory for B.E./B. Tech, one of the Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subjects, is needed.

For B.Arch: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry mandatory; for B.Planning: Mathematics mandatory.

  • Candidates can attempt JEE Main up to 3 consecutive years (6 attempts across 2 sessions per year).

  • For admission in NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs, general/OBC/EWS candidates need at least 75% in Class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile; SC/ST need 65%.

  • Foreign nationals, NRIs, OCIs, and PIOs are eligible if they meet the qualification criteria.

JEE Main 2026 Exam Structure and Language Options  

The JEE Main 2026 exam comprises two papers and the details for the same are given below:

  • Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.): Paper 1 has 75 questions in total, including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The test is computer-based with two shifts daily.

  • Paper 2 (B.Arch. and B.Planning): On the other hand, Paper 2 includes Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing/Test Planning segments, with the drawing test conducted offline.

The exam will be available in 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. This will help candidates across the country access the exam easily.

JEE Mains 2026 Required Documents List

  • Aadhaar Card: Must have the correct name, date of birth (matching Class 10th certificate), latest photograph, address, and father's name updated.

  • UDID Card (for Persons with Disabilities): Should be valid, updated, and renewed as required.

  • Category Certificate (EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL): Must be updated and valid.

  • Class 10 mark sheet or certificate as proof of date of birth and basic qualification.

  • Class 12 mark sheet for candidates appearing in 2026. 

JEE Mains 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

Approximately 12 lakh students are expected to appear in the JEE Mains exam. The exam will be conducted in the CBT format and will last for a duration of 3 hours. The exam duration is extended to 4 hours for candidates belonging to the PwD category. As there will be two papers, the first will be for the B.E./B/Tech program, and will comprise a total of 75 questions, and the total marks will be 300. The papers 2A and 2B, belonging to B.Arch and B.Planning, will have a total of 400 marks each and will comprise a total of  77 and 100 questions, respectively. There is a negative marking of -1 for each incorrect response and +4 for each answer attempted correctly.

JEE Mains 2026 Exam Fee

All the candidates belonging to the General, unreserved, OBC, or EWS category will have to pay INR 1000 in exam fee for male candidates, and INR 800 for female candidates. Both the male and female candidates belonging to the SC, ST, PwD, or transgender category will have to pay INR 500 in exam fee.

Important Instructions for Applicants

  • Candidates must apply only through the official website; offline or any other mode application will not be accepted.

  • Each candidate is allowed to submit only one application form. Multiple forms will lead to disqualification.

  • Applicants need to upload valid documents such as Aadhaar Card, UDID Card (for PwD candidates), and category certificates as applicable.

  • The Aadhaar-based authentication feature ensures streamlined details submission and helps reduce errors.

  • Candidates will have an opportunity to apply separately for Session 2 (April 2026) using the same application number once the registration opens.

JEE Main 2026 Administrators List 

As per the official notification, the list of administrators and participants college in the JEE Mains 2026 exam has been revealed. The Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other institutions are expected to administer the JEE Mains Exam for further admissions to the engineering and architecture programs. All the students who pass the JEE Mains exam will have to appear for the JEE Advanced exam for admission to engineering and architecture programs in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
