Top Dental Colleges in India Admission 2025

Indian dental colleges admit students after an entrance exam and a centralized counselling process. For BDS courses, students must meet the NEET UG qualification. Candidates need to appear for NEET MDS to be eligible for admission to MDS programs. MCC (Medical Counseling Committee) handles counseling for All India Quota and each state’s authority handles counseling for its quota seats.

Counselling registration can be done online on the MCC or state websites once the entrance results are announced. After considering NEET scores, rank and available seats, students are assigned colleges.

Government colleges usually charge between ₹15,000 and ₹1,00,000 a year for BDS and private colleges may charge up to ₹8,00,000 per year.

Anyone interested in dental courses in India must first pass national-level entrance exams. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET UG) is the main test required for admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) program. Every year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) organizes the exam which is used as the only way to gain admission into dental colleges in India. NEET UG is a three-hour and twenty-minute test with multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (both Botany and Zoology). The exam consists of 720 questions and you earn four marks for each correct answer and lose one mark for each wrong answer because of negative marking. Getting a high score in NEET UG is important to be considered for top dental colleges.

NEET MDS

Students who want to pursue the Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) must appear for the NEET MDS exam which the National Board of Examinations (NBE) organizes. You must pass this exam to be admitted to MDS programs in India. The NEET MDS test is completed on a computer and takes three hours. It has 240 multiple-choice questions meant to evaluate how well the candidate knows the curriculum. Students who want to enroll must have a recognized BDS degree and must have completed their required internship. Good ranks in NEET UG and NEET MDS are essential for getting into well-known dental colleges nationwide.
