NIT Meghalaya has established a good record of quality placements in leading industries. The official placement and training cell of the institute is also known as the Centre of Career Development (CCD). It is a training centre that equips students with employability skills, personality development and technical workshops. CCD also provides internship and placement opportunities for B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and PhD students.
The placement season for 2025 is expected to see a continued rise in placement packages and recruiter participation. The highest and lowest packages offered recently were INR 55.72 LPA and INR 2.5 LPA, respectively, while the average package ranged from INR 6.59 LPA to INR 6.78 LPA, depending on the branch. Companies from various sectors such as IT, core engineering, consultancy, power, public sector, and research have recruited from the institute.
NIT Meghalaya follows a āOne Student - One Jobā policy with an option to apply to a higher package company (1.5X rule). Students are also encouraged to take part in internships with reputed organisations. Many students of NIT Meghalaya receive Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) based on their performance during internships.
