NIT Meghalaya Admission Process
NIT Meghalaya has a wide range of Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs in the fields of Engineering, Sciences and Humanities. The admission process for the academic session 2025-26 is based on the entrance exams and is carried out through national-level exams like JEE Main, GATE and IIT JAM. For the B.Tech courses, the JEE Main registration was between 31 January 2025 and 24 February 2025, and JoSAA counselling was between 03 June 2025 and 12 June 2025. For M.Tech, the registration process of CCMT started on 14 May 2025 and ended on 04 June 2025, whereas document verification and CSAB counselling (special rounds) will be held between 6 August 2025 and 22 August 2025. Interested applicants must apply to the portals and provide the necessary documents, and finish the admission process within the stipulated deadlines. NIT Meghalaya Admission 2025
The institute provides admission to different courses in B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc and PhD in various streams such as Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Humanities. JEE Main is followed by JoSAA/CSAB counselling to give admissions to B.Tech courses. The admissions to the M.Tech program are through a valid GATE score and CCMT counselling, whereas the admission to M.Sc is done through IIT JAM and CCMN. To be admitted to the PhD program at NIT Meghalaya, students have to qualify in a written examination and/or personal interview held by the institute.

NIT Meghalaya Eligibility Criteria 2025
For Undergraduate (UG): For admission to the B.Tech program, candidates must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% (65% for the reserved categories) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Admission is based on JEE Main scores, followed by JoSAA or CSAB counselling.
For Postgraduate (PG): For M.Tech programs, a Bachelor's degree (B.E./B.Tech) in the relevant field with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PH) is required. Admission is based on securing a valid GATE score, followed by CCMT counselling. For M.Sc programs, candidates must have a B.Sc degree in a relevant subject with valid JAM scores and participate in CCMN counselling.
For Doctoral (PhD): Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST/PH) marks. Preferences are given to the candidates with a valid GATE/NET score. Selection is based on a written test and/or an interview that the institute conducts.
NIT Meghalaya UG Admission 2025
For the academic session 2025-26, NIT Meghalaya offers a 4-year full-time B.Tech program in five major disciplines: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Civil Engineering (CE). Admission to the B.Tech program is based on the candidate's performance in JEE Main, followed by counselling conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) or the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).
To be eligible, applicants must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and must have scored a minimum of 75% (65% for reserved categories) marks. A valid JEE Main score is mandatory for admission into NIT Meghalaya. The per-semester tuition fee for general, OBC, and EWS category students is INR 83,696, while for SC, ST, and PH category students, the fee is reduced to INR 21,196. Additional hostel, mess, and registration charges are applicable separately.
NIT Meghalaya PG Admission 2025
NIT Meghalaya offers full-time M.Tech and M.Sc programs in various disciplines for the academic session 2025–26. M.Tech programs are available in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. NIT Meghalaya offers a 2-year M.Sc. program in specialisations such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Admission to the M.Tech program requires a B.E./B.Tech degree in a relevant field along with a valid GATE score, while M.Sc applicants must have a B.Sc degree with relevant subjects and a valid JAM score. Admissions are done through centralised counselling—CCMT for M.Tech and CCMN for M.Sc. For vacant seats, the institute may conduct its entrance test.
The per-semester fee for M.Tech (Full-Time) is INR 56,196 for Gen/OBC/EWS and INR 21,196 for SC/ST/PH. M.Tech (Part-Time) fees are INR 53,150 and INR 18,150, respectively. For M.Sc, the semester fee is INR 28,696 for Gen/OBC/EWS and INR 21,196 for SC/ST/PH students. Additional charges for hostel, mess, and registration apply separately.

NIT Meghalaya offers PhD programs in Engineering, Basic Sciences, and Humanities & Social Sciences for the academic year 2025-26. These programs are open for admission twice a year. There is a wide range of specialisations covered under the PhD program, such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English, and Economics, among others. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates). While a valid GATE or NET score is preferred, all applicants are required to appear for a written test and/or personal interview conducted by the institute. The per-semester fee for full-time PhD students is INR 28,696 for Gen/OBC/EWS categories and INR 21,196 for SC/ST/PH categories.
