Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati), which is a premier engineering institution in India, was founded in 1994 and began to offer its academic programs the following year. IIT Guwahati offers various scholarships to support and encourage its undergraduate and postgraduate students. The Institute Merit Scholarship (IMS) is awarded to top-performing students in each stream starting from their second year. Another key financial aid is the Merit-cum-Means (McM) Scholarship which is given based on both academic merit and family income to up to 25% of non-SC/ST students.
