The total for the first semester for SC/ST/PwD students is INR 60,540 only. The total fees for the following semesters are lower and vary from INR 38,150 to INR 45,540, depending on the semester and category. The semester fees change from INR 14,650 to INR 17,040, and the hostel and mess charges are INR 28,500 per semester.
Also, for foreign nationals, the tuition fees are not the same. Besides, there are many fellowships programs being offered for postgraduate and doctoral programs as well. Some of them are ASEAN Fellowship Program for PhD students, James Thomason Scholarship for Top JEE Advanced Rankers, etc. The details of these fellowships are given below:
IIT Bhubaneswar participates in India's MHRD ASEAN Fellowship Program, welcoming PhD aspirants from ASEAN countries to engage in cutting-edge research in science and technology. Selected students receive full funding equivalent to Indian counterparts for up to 5 years to cover all study and living expenses. The fellowship offers a monthly stipend of INR 31,000 for the first two years, increasing to INR 35,000 for the next three years, along with a research grant of up to INR 1,70,000 for travel, books and contingencies. Additionally, students get a 24% house rent allowance if hostel accommodation is not provided, with a maximum tenure of 5 years.
Students who secure an All India Rank of up to 275 in JEE (Advanced) can receive the James Thomason Scholarship at IIT Bhubaneswar. Under this scheme, each eligible student is paid INR 25,000 per month for the full length of their degree program. To continue receiving the scholarship every year, they must maintain a CGPA of at least 8.0 at the end of each academic year.
If a candidate belongs to the Regular (non-sponsored) category and clears the national level exams like GATE, NET or JRF, only then they will qualify for these fellowship programs. Meanwhile, International students, whether receiving fellowships or not, may work as student assistants on projects. In addition, high-performing SII program students in their first semester can get ICCR sponsorship recommendation for the remaining semesters.
