IIT Bhubaneswar admission criteria for undergraduate courses including all B.Tech and Dual Degree programs are based on the results of the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Advanced and counselling, which is conducted through JoSAA. Eligibility to take the exam requires completion of 12th grade with science subjects. On the other hand, admission to the Integrated Teacher Education Programme is determined through the National Common Entrance Test, along with subject-specific eligibility and marks criteria.
For postgraduate programs, admission to the M.Tech program requires a valid GATE score and a relevant engineering degree. Entry into the M.Sc program is through the JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.). The MS by Research and PhD programs necessitate a GATE, CSIR-UGC NET, or other comparable national-level exam scores, depending on the specific area of study. Reserved categories receive concessions concerning marks and upper age limits for all programs.

IIT Bhubaneswar B.Tech Courses Offered
At the UG level, IIT Bhubneswar offers a B.Tech program for students which lasts for 4 years and is divided into 8 semesters. It is open to both Indian and foreign students. The different B.Tech branches available are Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, etc. Indian students get admission through the JEE Advanced exam, while the admission criteria differ for international students. Foreign students are those who are not Indian citizens and do not have a PIO or OCI status. Also, the Seats for foreign students are extra and make up to 10% of the total seats in each branch. Students with PIO or OCI cards compete in the general category. Furthermore, Foreign students do not have reservation benefits like OBC, SC, ST or PwD categories.

IIT Bhubaneswar Dual Degree Programmes Offered
IIT Bhubaneswar offers two distinct Dual Degree programs that allow students to integrate undergraduate and postgraduate studies and prepare them for advanced careers in engineering and education. The B.Tech Dual Degree program is the first program which gives the student a Bachelor of Technology and a Master of Technology degree. This program has several engineering disciplines and B.Tech options like Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc. Apart from the core technical expertise, students can also study breadth, lateral, and open electives to have a broad and interdisciplinary understanding. The admission for the B.Tech Dual Degree program is done through the JEE Advanced exam. Candidates must qualify through this exam to be eligible for admission.

IIT Bhubaneswar B.Sc.-B.Ed. (ITEP) Programmes Offered
The second program in dual degrees is B.Sc-B.Ed Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP), available through the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management and the School of Basic Sciences. This program is for candidates who want to become teachers and includes majors in Economics, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Every program has a requirement of 160 credits, where a major in the respective discipline is of 64 credits and a minor in the respective discipline is between 20 and 22 credits depending on the subject. Such a model supports the idea that students become highly knowledgeable in the subjects and at the same time acquire skills that are educational. Admission to the B.Sc-B.Ed (ITEP) is through the candidate's scoring class 12th with the specified minimum marks and taking the NCET with all components required for the test. Besides these courses, the School of Basic Sciences at IIT Bhubaneswar also has Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. programs in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics that are research-based and open to students for their advanced studies.

M.Tech Courses Offered by IIT Bhubaneswar
The M.Tech program takes 2 years to complete. It is offered by different schools at the institute, such as the School of Earth, Ocean and Climate Sciences, School of Electrical and Computer Sciences, School of Infrastructure, School of Mechanical Sciences and School of Minerals, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. There are many specialisations to choose from, including Climate Science & Technology, Signal Processing and Communication Engineering and more.
There is also an M.Tech Blended Mode program that is more flexible. The minimum duration of the M.Tech Blended program at IIT Bhubaneswar is 2 years which is extendable up to 5 years. Unlike a regular M.Tech course, this course does not require a GATE score and students are selected through an evaluation process. M.Tech Blended programmes are made for the engineers who have worked in the industry for 3 years. The minimum time required for completion is 2 years, however, the maximum duration given to the students to complete the courses is 5 years.

Ph.D. Courses Offered by IIT Bhubaneswar
IIT Bhubaneswar offers PhD programs that help trained engineers and researchers develop new ideas and innovations with both technical and social impact. The institute provides PhD programs in 16 specialized areas categorized into 7 Schools.
Students desiring to pursue a PhD in engineering must hold a Master’s or an equivalent degree with not less than 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA or a Bachelor’s degree with 70% marks and a valid GATE score.
