The selection process for the MBA program at IIM Calcutta happens in several phases to pick the candidates having the sound knowledge, logical skill, and the capability of getting a lead. The initial selection is done on the basis of CAT scores and academic performance which is then followed by the personal interview and written ability test for the evaluation of the communication skills, mental agility, and the overall personality.
The students must score 50% marks in their graduate degree and should meet the cutoff requirement of the CAT exam. Only the students who have met the percentile of the CAT exam would get shortlisted for the next rounds of PI & WAT.

The executive MBA at IIM Calcutta is a 1 year full time residential programme. It is for candidates who have more than 5 years of work experience. It is made for candidates in their mid career to help them upscale their skills and work on their existing ones to climb up to the management roles. This programme was launched in 2006 and has people from various sectors like IT, PSUs, health care, defense, architecture, renewable powers and many more. The IIM Calcutta Fees for MBAEx is INR 33,50,000.

The selection procedure for MBAEx is divided into 6 stages. The candidates must fulfil the criteria for every stage based on which they will get assessed. The criteria are the assessment of academic background, followed by professional experience, and after that the students will get assessed on their GMAT Score. If the person has a valid GMAT score then he or she will be invited for the personal interviews. The candidates for the last part of the assessments will also have to write a statement of purpose and get letters of recommendation from people in their relevant sectors and industries.
It is a joint master's programme which is offered by multinational companies, NGOs and the Global Alliance of leading business schools. It is a 1 year programme which can also be taken during the MBA programme of IIM Calcutta. This course is created by 33 member schools of CEMS with inputs from 70+ CEMS corporate partners, students and alumni. This programme is designed to give students international exposure and improve their business practices. This programme is only eligible for students who are already enrolled in one of the CEMS Schools or universities.
The students who wants to apply to this course should be enrolled in a masters programme in some of the selected CEMS schools. They should also have a bavhelors degree in either management or economics with minimum 60 ECTS. In some cases, students would also require a 600 GMAT score or a 555 GMAT focus score.
The students would also need to give an English language proficiency test if English is not their mother tongue like TOEFL IBT, IELTS, CPE C etc.
The selection will be based on online application and a personal meeting like interview or assessment centre. The candidates will also have to submit motivation letter, CV, language reports certificates and grade reports in the application form.

This PGDBA course is offered in collaboration by IIT Kharagpur, IIT Calcutta and ISI. It is a 2 year residential full time programme in the specialisation of business analytics. The students will get selected based on their percentile in the CAT exam. If the marks in the CAT Exam are satisfactory then they will have to move on to the next round i.e personal interview. The shortlisted students will have to appear for the personal interview which will be conducted by the faculty of the IIM Calcutta. The final selection will be done on the criteria of the entrance exam score, personal interview, class 12th marks and work experience.
PGPEX-VLM is a full time residential programme with a duration of 1 year. This programme is offered jointly by three renowned institutes, that is IIM Calcutta, IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras. This programme was started in 2007 and made with inputs and consultations from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Doctoral management programme is a doctorate level degree whose duration varies from 4-5 years. It was started in 1971 and offers specialisation in different fields related to management like Economics, Finance & Control, Human Resource Management, and many more. This programme is beneficial for students who want to pursue their career in research and academics related to management.
All the candidates who are interested in the course can look at the eligibility criteria given below. Any candidate who fulfils any one of the criteria is eligible to apply for the programme.
Along with this the students who are from non-engineering backgrounds and have done 5 years degree after class 12th are eligible for admission. In addition to this candidates should have scored at least 50% marks in their secondary or higher secondary exams.
The candidates who are in the final years of their degrees be it 4 years bachelor's or a masters from any discipline can also apply. The candidates who are selected will be given provisional admission unless they don't submit all the necessary documents with their marksheet before 31st December 2026.
The Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM) provides specialisations indifferent fields and disciplines related to management. All the specialisations that IIM Calcutta offers in DPM are as follows:
The candidates can choose any one specialisation they want to pursue or at most two according to their interests and career goals. Before applying the candidates should do some research regarding the structure of the course, faculty and research opportunities.
The candidates willing to pursue this programme must follow the admission procedure given by IIM Calcutta. The candidate must have appeared in the CAT exam or an alternative exam depending on the specialisations being considered. Candidates can also apply using their GMAT & GRE scores. The exams of GMAT & GREs taken online or at home will not be considered for the admission to the programme.
The students who have done their MBA or PGDM from any of the IIMs and have scored 6.00 CGPA out of 9.00 grade points can apply directly to the DPM programme without giving any admission test. Those students just have to apply for the programme, pay the application fee and complete all the formalities before the deadline. After the submission of the application form, all the procedures for these students will be the same as other candidates.

The students enrolled in this programme do not have to pay the tuition fee. The candidates get a monthly stipend of INR 42,000 at pre-CQE and INR 45,000 at post-CQE. After the candidates have submitted their thesis proposal their monthly stipend will increase and will go up to INR 50,000.
Along with this the students can also avail the student development grant up to INR 1,05,000 for the first year and INR 35,000 per year after that. If the candidate has research that requires going to the field, they will get additional financial support of INR 75,000. Also students are advised to take teaching assistantships that will pay INR 42,000 on top of the stipend.
The candidates living with their families get INR 15,000 per month and single students get INR 10,000 per month. The institute also provides financial assistance to students if they are attending international conferences and workshops.
Students belonging to the ST category can get the fellowship under the scheme of national fellowship & scholarship for higher education of ST students which is a national fellowship.
The executive PhD is for people who have a minimum of 8 years of full time work experience at the managerial, professional or entrepreneurial level after graduation. This programme was started in 2025 and offers a wide range of specialisations in fields related to management. This programme is ideal for people who are at senior levels in their careers and want to deepen their knowledge in policy making in government and non government sectors.
The eligibility for pursuing the course of Executive PhD is mentioned below. The candidates meeting the requirement of any one criterion will be considered eligible to apply to the programme.

Candidates after ensuring the eligibility criteria of the programme should apply online for the Executive PhD.

The shortlisted students will appear for the research aptitude test (RAT) and give a personal interview at the campus of the IIM Calcutta by their esteemed faculty.
