The IIM Calcutta course for the doctoral programme is a full time programme that was started in 1971. This programme is for people who want to deepen their knowledge and research skills in management science. The students who want to pursue their careers in academics, government or industry policy making would be a good fit for this course. The duration of the programme depends on the student and the specification he or she is taking. Generally the duration of the programme is from 2 years to 5 years depending on the time taken to complete the thesis. Prof. Saikat Maitra is the chairperson of the doctoral programme at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.

Eligibility:
The applicants who decide to pursue DPM from IIM Calcutta should have a masters or postgraduate diploma in first class and a 3 years bachelors degree with 50% marks at least. If the student has a bachelor or B.Tech. A degree of 4 years is also eligible. A professional degree like CA with 50% marks or a CS/CMA degree with minimum 55% marks with b.com degree would also be considered eligible.
The students who are from non non-engineering background should have completed their education in a 10+2+5 years structure and CMA (USA) candidates can also apply for the doctoral programme.
Along with this students should have scored good marks in their secondary and higher secondary exams with at least 50% marks.
The final year students in their qualifying degree can also apply for the doctoral programme provided they submit all the documents within the stipulated time given by the institute.
Note: The students who are already enrolled in a 2 year programme in any of the IIMs with 6.00 CGPA do not have to take any admission test and can directly apply for the programme.
The students enrolled in the programme have to go through the coursework in 2 years divided into 6 terms. In the first year students have to take 15 compulsory credit courses and 1 compulsory non credit course i.e. qualifying mathematics.
The academic group that a student joins in the first year will be considered their major area of specialisation.
In the second year of the course students have to take 8 courses in major areas, 3 courses in doctoral, and 2 compulsory courses at the doctoral level. The students are also required to take 1 term paper in the major area of their research or 2 at most.
After the completion of the first year, students on a summer break are required to work on their research work or project which will be considered equivalent to 2 credit courses.
In the first year of the programme, the student should score 5.5 CGPA and 6.0 in the coursework. The students who fail to meet the qualifying marks criteria would be asked to withdraw from the programme.
Once the students have successfully completed their coursework with a satisfactory CGPA, they will be required to take a CQE (Comprehensive Qualifying Examination) by the academic group they have chosen. If the students qualify the CQE successfully then they would move towards the dissertation and the thesis phase.
The students are also required to attend the teaching practicum and take up a teaching assistantship over the tenure of their fellowship for at least one diploma which is provided by the chosen academic group.

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta PhD Executive program started from the batch of 2025-26. It is made for senior executives who are into policy making, civil services etc. This course is perfect for people who want to deepen their business management knowledge without compromising on their careers. The first two years of the programme are conducted in both online and offline modes to provide flexibility to students.
The candidates who successfully complete their programme will be awarded the degree of Executive PhD in their respective specialisation. The candidates pursuing this PhD also have other career options open for them, like a career in academia, business consulting, advanced analytics or management research.

Eligibility:
The applicant must have 8 or more years of work experience in professional, entrepreneurial and managerial roles after the completion of their graduation.
The candidate should also have completed their masters or post graduate diploma with a 3 years of bachelors degree. Along with that the candidate who has a professional degree like CA/CS/CMA with 50% and 55% marks respectively will also be eligible for admission in the programme.
Students with 4 year bachelors degree with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or equivalent can also apply. And students who have done their post graduation from a foreign institute can apply provided that their institution or university is recognised by a competent authority.
Note: The candidates should acquire a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their place of employment and should talk with them regarding the attendance that is required for offline classes, workshops and other activities.
The candidates will go through a mix of online and offline modes of learning in the first two years of their degree which will include the elective and mandatory courses.
The qualifying CGPA for the first year is 6.0 and students who meet this cutoff would be required to appear in the CQE (comprehensive qualifying exams). Once the student qualifies for this exam he or she will be eligible to move forward with the dissertation or thesis work.
After the successful completion of this there would be a thesis proposal defence following which there would be the thesis submission and defence.
Note: the students will be required to complete a teaching practicum and a case writing workshop during their Executive PhD programme.
The students who couldn't qualify for the CQE and meet the cutoff for the CGPA will be asked to withdraw from the program.

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta course MBA is the flagship course of the institute. It is a 2 year full time course which is designed for students who wants to become managers and high-level decision makers. The courses help the students in developing their skills in all the areas of accounting, management, finance, operations and marketing.
The course also has a mentorship programme which makes the second year students mentors of the first year students to help them with the smooth transition of placements process. This programme helps the students with the making of a CV to prepare them for GD etc.

Eligibility:
Students with a bachelor's degree with 50% marks or 45% in the case of reserved categories will be eligible for admission in the programme.
The students who have done an integrated masters or dual degree after their 12th class will also be considered for MBA IIM Calcutta Course. Students in the last year of their bachelor's course are also eligible however, they will have to provide all the required documents before the deadline till then their admission will be considered conditional.
The admission will be based on the entrance exam of CAT. On successful qualification of the exam, students will be invited for a personal interview and a writing ability test. On the basis of the following, the final admission would be granted to the students.
The eligibility criteria for the international students are the same as domestic students with the difference of the entrance exam. The foreign students would need to appear in the GMAT exam and score at least 735 to be eligible for the subsequent rounds.
Note: the GMAT exam taken at home will not be considered and the exam should be taken at a test centre and GMAT taken before 1 February 2024 will not be considered valid.
The degree has 2 tier structure with the first one consisting of the core curriculum which includes compulsory credit and non credit course. The students also have to take up a compulsory summer internship between their first and second year.the second consists of elective courses which are optional in the second year.

IIM Calcutta course of CEMS Master's in international Management is a 1 year course. IIM Calcutta is part of an elite club of 33 premium business schools and is the only indian business school in the club. The students should have done their bachelors degree in economics, management or a related field with a minimum of 60 ECTS. If applicable students should also score a minimum of 600 points in GMAT and 555 points in GMAT Focus.
The students should also submit one of these English proficiency tests such as TOEFL IBT, IELTS Academic and Pearson Test of English.
The programme structure of CEMS MIM IIM Calcutta course is divided into 5 parts. The first part is the block seminar in which students begin with concentrated week long sessions called block seminar. The main aim of this seminar is to set students up for networking with peers, professors and companies.
Next component is skill seminar which trains students in an international management environment. This seminar focuses on business communication, intercultural skills, group work abilities, and international negotiation techniques. This seminar is not graded as it focuses on improving students skills rather than assessing them.
Business project will be the third component in which students solve a real wold business problem faced by companies. The Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) is a 2 year full time residential programme. This IIM Calcutta course is offered jointly by IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur and ISI. This course provides in-depth knowledge of business analytics to help students who want to pursue a career in this area of specialisation. This course prepares students by providing them with hands on training and all relevant skills to make them employable in domestic and foreign companies.
This course is taught by the esteemed faculty of the three institutes of IIM Calcutta, IIT Kharagpur and ISI. It offers students the opportunity to train at the related companies and have regular interaction with industry leaders.
The eligibility criteria for the course is the completion of the bachelor degree with at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA. the students who have done engineering diploma and have taken lateral entry at B.Tech are also eligible considered thet have scored 60% marks in the programme.
Students with professional degrees like CA/CS/ICWA with 60% marks will also be considered. Students who are in their final year are also eligible to apply if they are fulfilling all the eligibility criteria of the programme.
