The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has announced the exam date for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2026. As per the update released on March 6, the state-level entrance test will be conducted on May 24, 2026. Candidates appearing for the exam are advised to regularly visit the official website of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam Board for the upcoming notification and detailed information brochure.
The WBJEE serves as an admission to undergraduate programmes in engineering, pharmacy and architecture, which are offered by government and private institutions across West Bengal. Through this examination, eligible candidates can secure admission to several colleges and universities in the state.
As in previous years, the WBJEE examination was conducted on April 27 last year. In 2024, the exam took place on April 26, while in both 2023 and 2022 it was held on April 30. The 2026 exam date is May 24, which is a slightly later schedule than in the past few years. The declaration of the WBJEE results last year faced a significant delay due to a legal dispute concerning the implementation of reservations for Other Backwards Classes (OBC). The board had withheld the merit list after the Calcutta High Court directed it to publish a revised list in accordance with its order on OBC reservations. Justice Kausik Chanda stated that the updated list should include a 7% reservation for 66 OBC categories recognised by the state’s Backwards Classes Department prior to 2010.
The uncertainty continued until the Supreme Court of India stayed the Calcutta High Court’s order on August 22, which allowed the board to proceed with the declaration of the results. As a result, the WBJEE 2025 results were announced on the same day, nearly four months after the examination, which had been conducted on April 27.
