The Ministry of Education started India’s largest school hackathon event, “Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025,” on October 13, 2025. The event will be conducted between 10 AM to 11 PM, in which over 1 crore of students can participate from more than 3 lakh schools across the country. The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 is a nation-wide innovative event organised to empower students from classes 6 to 12, where students can show their creativity and problem-solving skills.
The event will be inaugurated by the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, along with other representatives, including Deepak Bagla, to collaborate with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and NITI Aayog. The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 will be live-streamed nationwide through its official website.
Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025: Evaluation and Awards
The expert panel will evaluate the project submission by students, and a total of 1 crore rupees will be awarded to all winners, divided into different levels.
The participants are initiated to build their project, a design that addresses the real-world problem that fulfils the four pivotal national themes:
Swadeshi: Using indigenous goods to promote self-reliance in economic growth, financial inclusion, and agricultural prosperity.
Vocal for Local: Innovate that support and utilize locally made products.
Samriddh Bharat: A vision for a prosperous and developed India.
Atmanirbhar Bharat: Making India self-reliant through domestic growth.
Key Feature Of The Buildathon
Here are some key features of Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025
Dedicated portal: A national portal is available for teams to register and submit their final project ideas or prototypes
Mode of participation: Teams of 3 to 5 students from each school can participate by submitting video entries, with no limit on the number of teams per school.
Mentorship support: Mentorship support will be provided by volunteers from incubation centers, the Mentor of Change Network, higher education institutions, and corporates to support project development at the school level.
National live event: A national live virtual event will be held, connecting all schools from students in classes 6 to 12.
Global streaming: The event will also be streamed on media channels nationwide.
District and State-level events: Additionally, district and state-level innovation activities will be organized, encouraging community events that involve multiple schools and dignitaries. Submission of entries: After the event, schools are required to submit videos showcasing their innovation entries, whether ideas or prototypes.
How to Participate in Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 Event
Eligibility: Students from classes 6 to 12 across India can participate by forming teams of 3 to 5 members from the same school. Registration is done with the help of teachers, and schools can register unlimited teams.
Team Registration: Teachers and schools encourage students to form teams and register them on the official Buildathon portal, after which each team receives a unique registration ID. The registration link is vbb.mic.gov.in.
Theme Selection: Each team must select one of the four Buildathon themes and identify a related problem to address with a solution.
Brainstorm and Build: Teams work on creating innovative solutions to solve community problems.
Preparation and Submission: Teams create a 2-5 minute video explaining the problem, their solution or prototype, how it works, and its potential impact.
Submission Deadline: Project videos or summaries must be uploaded to the portal between October 13 and October 31, 2025.
