The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has declared that the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam 2025 will now be conducted in a single shift across the entire nation. This is a big change in the exam pattern and was confirmed by the SSC Chairman in an official notice.

What's New For SSC this Year?

The SSC CGL exam was held in multiple shifts over several days. Because of this, students often complained about different difficulty levels in different shifts. With the new single-shift plan, all students will answer the same paper at the same time. SSC says this will make the exam fairer and more transparent among students.

Another major update is about exam centres. From 2025 onwards, centres will be given only within 100 km of the candidate’s home district. This change is made so that students do not have to travel too far to write the exam.

Why did SSC bring these reforms?

SSC explained that the new system will reduce confusion between students and stop unfair comparisons between shifts. By holding one paper for everyone, there will be no issue of “easy” or “hard” shifts. The shorter travel distance for exam centres will also help students save time, money, and stress.

The commission believes these steps will make the exam more student-friendly and build trust in the process for students.

Students Reactions

Many students are happy with the decision, saying it will reduce stress. Some have also said that this will bring more equality among candidates. However, some students are worried about the large number of aspirants writing the exam in a single shift and whether the centres will have enough capacity.

Next Steps for Candidates

The detailed exam schedule for SSC CGL 2025 will be released soon on the official website ssc.nic.in. Students are advised to keep checking the site regularly and prepare as per the new pattern.
