What is the SHRESHTA Scheme?

The Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas Scheme is a government initiative aimed at providing admission opportunities to meritorious Scheduled Caste (SC) boys and girls in top private residential schools across the country. Each year around 3000 students are expected to be selected for admission to Class 9 and Class 11 under this scheme.

Amongβ€‹β€β€‹β€Œβ€β€‹β€β€Œ the primary objectives of the SHRESTHA program are to intensify the government's developmental activities, bridge educational gaps in areas with a majority of SC and those which are underdeveloped by teaming up with non-profit organisations, and to facilitate the social and economic progress of the Scheduled Caste communities. Besides, the scheme aims at making high-quality education available to gifted SC students so that they can follow the bright path of the β€‹β€β€‹β€Œβ€β€‹β€β€Œfuture.
