The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is currently recruiting for 9,970 Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) positions. The notification was issued on April 12, 2025, to invite applications for the form. The deadline for applying for the post has been extended, providing a sense of relief to potential candidates. Now, willing candidates can apply for the ALP till 19th May 2025, which was 11th May 2025 previously. RRB ALP Recruitment 2025: Eligibility Criteria 
 

For the 9,970 vacancies, the Railway Recruitment Board accepts applications. To apply for the vacancies, candidates need to meet the following eligibility criteria first:- 

  • Qualified Class 10 with an ITI certificate in a relevant trade. 
  • Completed a 3-year diploma in engineering. 
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering in the related field.
  • Candidates’s age mush have between 18 and 30 years as of July 1, 2025.

How do you apply for the RRB ALP Recruitment 2025?

To apply for the ALP post, candidates must visit the official RRB website, rrbapply.gov.in. They must either log in with existing RRB credentials or create a new account. 

  • Firstly, candidates should visit the official website, rrbapply.gov.in.
  • Click the link ‘RRB ALP Recruitment 2025 Application Form’.
  • Enter basic registration details, such as name, phone number, etc.
  • Using credentials generated at the time of registrantion, candidates can fill out the application form.
  • Upload the scanned copy of required document.
  • Pay the application fee via online mode such as credit card, debit card and net banking
  • Before submitting the form candidates are advised to review the form carefully.

Applying for the ALP post, RRB candidates need to submit their details through an application form, and after completing it, they need to pay the required amount in the name of ‘Application Fee’. RRB ALP Recruitment 2025: Selection Process

The selection process for the RRB ALP recruitment includes some steps. First, candidates must take two Computer-Based Tests (CBT 1 and CBT 2). CBT 1 will consist of 75 multiple-choice questions, and the duration for completing this exam is 60 minutes. It’s important to note that this test will have negative markings, so that incorrect answers will result in a deduction of marks.

If you have qualified for CBT 1, you will have to move on to CBT 2, which has two parts.

  • Part A: will have 100 questions, and the duration for completion is 90 minutes.
  • Part B: 75 trade-specific questions will be completed in 60 minutes. This paper will apply a negative marking to both parts of CBT 2.

After successfully passing the CBTS, candidates will go for the next step, such as document verification and a medical fitness test.
