The JKSSB has cancelled the Junior Engineer recruitment exam due to the circulating videos of candidates using smartphones inside the examination hall. In one of the examination centers, Girls Higher Secondary School Kothibagh, candidates were seen cheating through their mobile phones and discussing questions with other candidates.
The situation worsened with claims of a paper leak. On 24 August 2025, some of the candidates reported that the question papers were distributed before the official beginning of the exam. Candidates used Google to solve the questions and write the answer once the examination started. The examination was being conducted after almost a decade, and thousands of candidates appeared in the examination across the union territory.
JKSSB Reaction On The Situation And Paper Leak Allegations
The authorities have officially cancelled the JE recruitment exam. The examination took place in over 30 centers across the union territory. Once the examination started on its scheduled time, some of the candidates from the Kothibagh center started disrupting the examination. They took the examination papers outside the examination center and started solving them there with the help of a mobile phone. According to JKSSB, the examination is cancelled for now but will be scheduled for next month.
Allegations of Mismanagement and Corruption On JKSSB
The conducting authorities of the JE recruitment exam are blamed for the misconduct and mismanagement that happened during the examination on 24 August 2025. Leaders such as Iltija Mufti from PDP said that the incident happened because of the sheer incompetence of the NC government, on the other hand, Vinkal Sharma, an engineer who exposed a job scam previously, also pointed out how this incident could have been avoided by replacing the set of question papers. As two sets of paper are always printed to deal with situations like these but the other set was probably not printed to save money.
