The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to release the provisional answer key for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 on April 11, 2026. Students will be able to check it by logging into their accounts. Earlier, the question papers were already shared online for students to review.
The exam was held from April 2 to April 8, 2026, in computer-based mode. The exam was conducted at about 566 centres spread across 304 cities in India and 14 cities outside the country. More than 11 lakh students appeared for Paper 1 and Paper 2 combined.
Now, students are waiting for the next steps, which include the release of response sheets, where applicants will get the chance to raise objections to the JEE Main 2026 answer key and the final result.
The exam took place at around 566 centres in 304 cities in India and outside the country. For Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.), about 11.06 lakh students registered in India, along with 4,229 students from abroad. For Paper 2 (B.Arch./B.Planning), around 54,953 students registered in India and 270 from other countries.
Attendance was high for Paper 1, with about 93% of students appearing. For Paper 2, the attendance was around 73%.
JEE Main 2026: Question Paper & Answer Key Updates
The NTA have already released the question papers for all shifts of JEE Main 2026 Session 2 on 9th of April, 2026. This is done to maintain transparency and allow candidates to check the questions that were asked in the exam.
The provisional answer key for Paper 1 (BE/BTech), along with students' recorded responses, is expected to be released by today on April 11, 2026. After this, the applicants will be able to challenge the answer key if they find any errors. They can do this online within the given time by paying a fee of INR 200 per question, which is non refundable.
JEE Main 2026: How to Raise Objections
Candidates who find any error in the answer key and want to raise any objection need to follow a simple procedure. Firstly, candidates need to visit the official website of the National Testing Agency at https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/. Then they need to log in using their application number and password or date of birth.
After logging in, open the link for the answer key challenge of JEE Main 2026 Session 2. Choose the question you want to raise an objection against and upload any supporting proof if you have it.
Next, they have to pay INR 200 for each question they challenge. This fee is non refundable. After payment, they should submit the objection and download the confirmation page for future use.
JEE Main 2026: Result Declaration Updates
The results for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 (Paper 1 for BE/ BTech) is expected to be announced by April 20, 2026.
To prepare the final result, the National Testing Agency will consider the best score of each candidate from both of the sessions of JEE Main 2026. So, if a student has appeared in both sessions, only their higher score will be used while allotting the All India rank. This process follows NTA’s official rules to make sure all the students are evaluated fairly.
