The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made an official announcement to all its affiliate schools, asking them to submit the Class 11 registration numbers for the JEE Main 2026 examination. The action is based on the repeated complaints by the students and parents that the schools had failed to provide or had delayed providing these important registration numbers. The board once again made it clear that the registration number in Class 11 is now compulsory to be included in the online application form of JEE Main 2026.
CBSE particularly noted that even after previous guidelines had been given on October 30, there were still several students who were having difficulties in getting the registration numbers from schools. To deal with this, the board has ensured that schools will always give students their Class 11 registration number who are taking the exam. The directive asked the school heads and principals to obey the order immediately, and failure to do so would adversely affect the applications of students.
What It Means to Aspirants
The NTA and CBSE will minimize the errors in application, provide the correct academic verification, and simplify the administrative process by providing the Class 11 registration number. This is particularly important to most students who study long before the very competitive exam and may be caught up in the procedural glitches. Having thousands of applicants competing for a few seats in the top institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology system, National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other centrally-funded technical institutions, a single administrative glitch can result in a missed opportunity.
What Students Should Do Now
In case you are a JEE Main 2026 candidate, you should have your Class 11 registration number issued by your school.
In case you have not, go to your principal or head of school at once, and submit the CBSE notice as a supporting document.
Make sure that you apply in time (before November 27), fill in the registration number correctly, and fulfil all the eligibility requirements.
Look at other exam-related deadlines, the dates, and patterns of the paper to be sure you are completely ready.
