The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has started inviting applications for the Summer Fellowship Programme 2026 for non-IIT students in engineering, science, humanities, and management, which is basically designed to provide in-hand experience to the students. The duration of the IIT Madras Summer Internship 2026 is 2 months, in which students will get a stipend of INR 15,000 per month. Candidates in the 3rd or 4th year of integrated or dual-degree master’s courses can fill out application forms for the summer internship till 2nd March 2026. This summer fellowship programme will start on 18th May 2026 and will continue till 17th July 2026. Along with that, selected candidates can also opt for the hostel and mess facility on the basis of payment and availability of seats. IIT Madras Summer Fellowship Programme Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who are planning to participate in the summer fellowship programme of IIT Madras are required to complete the eligibility criteria. Candidates pursuing the 3rd year of a UG (BE / B.Tech / B.Sc Engg. / 3-year B.Sc. with Chemistry, Physics & Mathematics) or the 3rd or 4th year of Integrated / Dual Degree in Masters Programme (M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc.) or the 1st year of an M.Sc. / M.A. / MBA with outstanding academic performance in terms of high ranks in university examinations and highlighting their achievements, including papers presented in seminars, projects executed, participation in design competitions, marks/ranks obtained in the Mathematics Olympiad and other awards/distinctions received, are eligible to apply for the IIT Madras Summer Fellowship Programme. Apart from this, students from IITs are not eligible to apply.

Candidates can register themselves for the IIT Madras Summer Fellowship Programme from the official website, i.e., https://ssp.iitm.ac.in/summer-fellowship-registration and candidates are also required to pay INR 100 as the application fee, which will be non-refundable, through different modes of payment like Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking and UPI.
