IIT-Kharagpur Student Body Begin Feedback Campaign on Academic and Administrative Reforms.webp

The Student Organization of IIT Kharagpur has started a feedback campaign to collect opinions from students about the institute’s academic and administrative policies. This initiative is being led by the Technology Students’ Gymkhana, also referred to as TSG in abbreviated form, which is the official student representative group on campus.

Purpose of the Feedback Drive

The main aim of this campaign is to understand how students feel about certain rules and systems in place, especially attendance policies and other academic procedures. Students are being asked to share their thoughts through online forms that are being sent via email. The feedback will help the administration know what is working well and what needs improvement.

According to institute officials, the feedback will be used to make decisions that support the holistic development of students. Director of IIT-Kharagpur, Professor Suman Chakraborty, said that the feedback from students is crucial for any new initiative and that they are open to constructive suggestions. He also added that these suggestions will be discussed at the highest decision-making level of the institute.

What Students Are Asked In The Feedback Form

Students are being encouraged to give honest and constructive feedback about:

  • Attendance rules

  • Academic workload

  • Administrative processes

  • Mental health support

  • Campus facilities

Note:- That the responses will be kept confidential, and students can freely express their views without fear of judgment.

Key Motive: Mental Health Support

This feedback drive comes at a time when student mental health has become a serious concern. In response to rising stress levels and reported cases of student suicides, IIT-Kharagpur has taken several steps to improve student well-being. Earlier this year, the institute appointed its first Dean of Student Well-BeingProfessor Arun Chakraborty, from the Centre for Ocean, River, Atmosphere and Land Sciences (CORAL) department.

His role is to interact closely with students, understand their mental health needs, and suggest reforms. The feedback campaign is one of the steps taken to evaluate whether recent changes are helping students or not.

How the Feedback Is Collected

The feedback process will be very simple and entirely online. You will be an anonymous sender. Here is how the process works:

  • Students receive an email from the Technology Students’ Gymkhana.

  • The email contains a link to an online form.

  • Students fill out the form with their opinions and suggestions.

  • The data is collected and reviewed by both the student body and the institute officials.

The campaign is expected to run for several weeks, allowing all students enough time to participate.

What Happens Next

Once the feedback is collected, the student body will compile the results and present them to the administration. The goal is to make meaningful changes that reflect the needs and concerns of the student community.
