IIT Indore BTech Admissions 2025 CSE Leads, Core Branches Rise.webp

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ CSE department at IIT Indore is increasingly becoming more and more popular, as evidenced by the 2025 choice-count report of the Joint Implementation Committee (JIC). As per the JIC report, 23410 choices were counted in 2025 for CSE, which is by far the most demanded programme, resulting in a 12.75% upward trend in the number of choices (20763) in the year 2024.

Furthermore, the two major fields of the past which are Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering were highly sought after only a few years ago, have now attracted the interest of a significant number of students. The volume of choices for Mechanical Engineering has increased by 9.49%, whereas Civil Engineering has risen by 10.85% in terms of ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌choices.

Computer Science Leads the Pack

  • With‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ the demand for computing, AI, and data science-related careers growing exponentially, CSE is still the major contributor to admissions.

  • The increasing trend of the branch to be chosen among others highlights that it is playing the role of a door to well‑paying jobs and worldwide prospects.

  • The good teaching staff, research labs, and collaborations with the industry at IIT Indore are icing on the cake of its ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌popularity.

Traditional Branches Gain Momentum

While‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ computer science courses are still the most popular, the trend is slowly changing and the two disciplines of Mechanical and Civil Engineering are getting back their students:

  • Mechanical Engineering: The students are more and more attracted to the areas of robotics, manufacturing, and interdisciplinary applications.

  • Civil Engineering: The expansion of infrastructure in India and the worldwide need for civil engineers have resulted in a higher level of interest.

  • Such fields that were going to be completely overshadowed by the IT-related areas and thus were losing their students have now reversed their fates and are registering a double-digit increase in the number of people choosing ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌them.

  • Industry Linkages: The top 100 collaborations are with tech companies and core engineering firms.

  • Location Advantage: Being located in the heart of India, IIT Indore is both accessible and offers the potential of the rapidly developing region.

  • Balanced Curriculum: The program at the institution emphasises modern computing disciplines as well as traditional engineering ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌fields.

Implications for Future Admissions

The university faculty composition reflects the success of IIT Indore in meeting the different wishes of the students and thus remaining relevant in various ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌sectors.

The‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ report of IIT Indore BTech Admissions 2025 shows that the Computer Science and Engineering department is still the most popular one, but at the same time the comeback of the Mechanical and Civil Engineering is also noticeable. With an increasing number of students willing to study various fields, IIT Indore becomes a top choice of tech-savvy and classical engineering aspirants ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌alike.

The data reveal a two-fold pattern:

  • Worldwide tech demand has made computing courses the most popular.

  • However, the fetching of the traditional disciplines is powered by the topographical and electrical infrastructure projects, the awakening of the heavy industry, as well as the dissemination of green energy initiatives.
