The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has dropped the final date sheet for 10th and 12th-standard board exams that will be held in 2026. As per the official notification, the CBSE Class 10 examination is scheduled for the period from February 17 to March 10, 2026, whereas CBSE Class 12 board exams are going to be held from February 17 to April 9, 2026. It has been mentioned that all the tests will be conducted in a single shift which will be from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM or 1:30 PM depending upon the length of each subject.
The final date sheet came out quite a bit ahead of time - in fact, it was almost 110 days before the beginning of the examinations, allowing youngsters to figure out and get ready for their studies properly. The CBSE has also highlighted that the exams have been designed to conclude before the commencement of major entrance tests like JEE and NEET 2026, ensuring no overlap for science stream students.

CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2026: Schedule and Details
The CBSE Class 12 board exams 2026 will be conducted from February 17 to April 9, 2026. Students should check their admit cards for the exact exam timings and paper codes. The admit cards will soon be made available on the official CBSE website.
The Board has also ensured that JEE Main 2026 and CBSE board exams do not overlap. CBSE has advised all schools to provide students with their Class 11 registration numbers, which are required while filling out the JEE Main application form.
To ensure that the JEE (Main) and CBSE examinations of the students do not coincide, NTA will require the registration number of the student of Class XI to be filled in the JEE (Main) application, CBSE stated in the notice.

On February 17, the CBSE Class 10 board exams 2026 will start and on March 10, 2026, they will be over. In the morning session, which will start at 10:30 AM, all the papers will be held; however, the durations will vary according to the subject type.

CBSE’s Focus on Student Convenience and Exam Coordination
CBSE has carefully scheduled the exams to avoid any overlapping between core subjects and optional or vocational papers, giving students ample preparation time. The Board emphasized that the 15-minute reading period (from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM) must be utilized effectively, as the writing time begins exactly at 10:30 AM.
Candidates are required to be at their examination centers no later than 10:00 AM. It is informed that no entries will be allowed after 10:15 AM.
Besides, the Board through a last-minute announcement, has instructed the students to:
Double-check the subject codes and the time of the exam on the admit card.
Bring their admit card and school ID to every examination session.
Comply with the directions given in the answer sheet and question paper.
Ensure that no electronic gadgets or unauthorized materials are in their possession.
