NEET 2026 Exam: The exam has been rescheduled for 21 June 2026 (Sunday) with revised timing from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM (IST) after the NEET exam conducted on 3 May 2026 was cancelled due to paper leak. NTA has released the NEET city intimation slip on 7 June 2026 including 551 cities (India) and 14 cities (Abroad) and it will issue NEET re exam 2026 admit cards on 14 June 2026 for candidates appearing in the re-exam at neet.nta.nic.in. The NTA NEET fee refund portal opened on 22 May 2026 for submission of bank account details and NEET refund last date has been extended from 27 May to 22 June 2026. Also, all 22.79 lakh candidates will re-appear for the NEET re exam 2026 free of cost and NEET 2027 will shift to CBT mode.

NEET Exam is a medical entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India at the national level for admission to undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BDS and other related programmes. Candidates will have to answer 180 multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) within 3 hours 15 minutes. There are 4 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. NEET Applicants must have passed class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as core subjects. Candidates of General category will be required to secure minimum 50% marks in their PCB subjects and candidates of reserved category will be eligible for relaxation as per the government norms.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) started the registration process for NEET 2026 on 08 February 2026 and the deadline to submit application form was set as 11 March 2026. The NEET re exam date is 21 June 2026 and aspirants don't have to register again. NTA had opened the facility to submit preferred bank account details for NEET 2026 fee refund from 22 May to 27 May 2026 and the deadline has now been extended till 22 June 2026 for candidates who have not yet submitted their bank account details. The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode (offline), with a single shift from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. The application form fees are INR 1,700 for General/NRI, INR 1,600 for General-EWS/OBC and INR 1,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Applicants can pay the required application form fee online through various payment methods such as Debit/Credit/UPI/Net Banking.

NTA NEET entrance exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India for admission to undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BAMS, BDS, etc. To be eligible, candidates must be at least 17 years old and have completed or be appearing for their Class 12 exams with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects. NEET Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the NEET Exam 2026:

  • Must be at least 17 years old on or before 31st December.

  • Must have secured minimum aggregate marks like 50% for General, 40% for SC/ST/OBC and 45% for PwD candidates.

  • Nationality: Indians, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs and foreign nationals.

  • No restrictions on the number of attempts.

No fresh registration is required for the NEET UG 2026 re-exam. All 22.79 lakh candidates who registered for the original May 3 exam are all eligible to sit for re-examination which is to be held on 21 June 2026 without paying any extra fee. The original application numbers and exam centres will be used as provided. As a reference, NEET Exam 2026 Application form registration window was from 08 February to 11 March 2026 and the Application form was available on the official website of NTA @neet.nta.nic.in. After the application period ended, there was a chance to make corrections in the form till 12 March 2026. Students need to fill in their personal and school details, upload documents, pay the application fee online (INR 1,700 for General, INR 1,600 for EWS/OBC, INR 1,000 for SC/ST/PwD) to submit the NEET 2026 application form. After completing the process, candidates can print the confirmation page for their records. The NEET exam was held on 3 May 2026 from 2 PM to 5 PM as a pen-and-paper test, which was cancelled by NTA after the paper leak and re NEET exam date is 21 June 2026 with an extended time of 15 minutes and NEET re exam admit card release date has been announced by NTA as 14 June 2026.

NEET 2026 Exam Pattern

The NEET 2026 Exam is conducted in offline mode with a total duration of 3 hours 15 Minutes (195 minutes). The NEET 2026 exam pattern includes questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). NEET 2026 follows the revised pattern introduced in 2025 with 180 compulsory MCQs and no optional questions. For the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled on 21 June 2026, NTA has increased the exam duration to 195 minutes (3 hours 15 minutes) by providing an additional 15 minutes to candidates.

According to the Marking scheme for NEET 2026, candidates are awarded +4 marks for each correct answer and deducted -1 mark for each incorrect answer. Meanwhile, unattempted questions receive no marks. Therefore, candidates should always think twice before marking their answers, as negative marking will be applied for wrong answers.

The NEET exam 2026 cutoff defines the minimum marks required for candidates to qualify for the NEET exam and secure admission into the desired medical institutes. The official NEET 2026 cutoff scores will be announced after the re-examination as the NEET 2026 exam conducted on 3 May 2026, has now been cancelled due to paper leak allegations. Yes, there will be re NEET that will be held on 21 June 2026.

The re-exam will be conducted offline with Pen & Paper/OMR sheets on 21 June 2026. The Computer-Based Test (CBT) format will be introduced from 2027 onwards.

The cancelled NEET UG 2026 question paper was not too difficult, nor too easy. Generally, students were at moderate level in the difficulty level of the exam. Biology was the easiest and most scoring section with most questions being directly related to NCERT and textbook concepts.
