A premier educational institution, the National Insurance Academy (NIA) was founded in 1980 by Public Sector Insurance companies for learning, research, and education in the fields of Management, Insurance, Pensions, and related fields. In 2010, the National Insurance Academy, Pune, launched the AICTE-approved PGDM. AIU (Association of Indian Universities) has granted the course MBA equivalency, and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited it. The academy offers PGDM as a full-time 2-year course.
Interested applicants can apply for admission to NIA by completing the eligibility criteria and registering themselves by filling out the application form on time. Admission to the PGDM Program is based on the academic results with the valid scores in entrance exams like CAT (75%), XAT (80%), and CMAT (95%), followed by the Personal Interview and Group Discussion.
The NIA campus is spread over 32 acres and features modern facilities such as air-conditioned classrooms, a well-equipped library, computer labs, separate restrooms for boys and girls, an auditorium, lecture halls, hostels, etc, which all provide a very secure and educational environment. Additionally, the academy offers the best placement opportunities in top recruiting companies, such as Infosys, Cognisant, Capgemini, Accenture, etc.
The National Insurance Academy provides a PGDM course for a duration of 2 years. Students willing for admission to the PGDM must have a bachelor's degree with 50% marks from a recognised university and a valid entrance exam score from 70% to 95% depending on the exams, including CAT, XAT, and CMAT. Along with the basic eligibility requirements, students must not be older than 28/30 years of age as of July 2026, depending on the student’s category. To apply online, students are instructed to visit the official website and fill out the application form for admission carefully. The application portal for admission is expected to close in March 2026 (Tentative).

Students who want to pursue the PGDM Course at NIA, Pune must complete the eligibility requirements, which are mentioned below:
Aspirants must have 50% marks in a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university to be admitted to the PGDM program.
Students must also have valid entrance exam scores in CAT (75%), XAT (80%), and CMAT (95%).
Additionally, candidates belonging to General / EWS / OBC-NC must not be older than 28 years, and SC, ST, and DA candidates must not be older than 30 years as of July 2026.
Candidates who are in the last year of their bachelor's degree are also eligible for admission if they provide results assuring 50% marks before June 2026.
Selection is based on the performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview including knowledge of English.
The National Insurance Academy's placement process is managed by a placement committee. The Placement Chairperson and Placement Secretariat provide direction to the student-led Placement Committee. The group is in charge of planning the summer internship and campus recruitment process. It makes contact with possible recruiters and arranges pre-placement discussions and in-person interviews on campus. It organises and provides every service required by visiting companies.
During the placement drive 2025, the excellent job opportunities for students are reflected with competitive salary packages. The highest salary package offered to the NIA students was INR 20 LPA, while the average salary package stood at INR 12.74 LPA. The college has achieved a 100% placement rate, which seems impressive. Prominent companies that visit the campus for recruitment include Infosys, Cognisant, Capgemini, and Accenture. Additionally, 72 National Insurance Academy candidates received Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs).
National Insurance Academy Scholarships 2025
Nine scholarships of the amount INR 1,00,000 each are awarded by the National Insurance Academy to deserving, female, and qualified students who fall within particular criteria, including students from the economically weaker section, while 10 students will also get a scholarship of INR 5,00,000 each in the Merit Cum Economically Weaker Section Students Scholarship.
