
IIT Gandhinagar offers a diverse range of courses, such as BTech, MTech, MA and MSc at the UG and PG levels. Some courses are offered at the PhD and Dual Degree levels. Admission to these courses is based on merit or national-level entrance exams. The fee structure and duration of the course will vary depending on the level of the program and the course chosen by the students. IIT Gandhinagar will start accepting BTech admission based on JEE Advanced score post 1 June 2026.
The institute will soon start the admission process for the 2026 academic session through various national-level entrance exams. Interested applicants can apply online by visiting the official portal at IIT Gandhinagar before the expected deadline of the last week of July 2026. There are multiple courses that are being offered at IIT Gandhinagar, these courses are BTech, MTech, MA, MSc, BTech+MTech and BTech+MSc in numerous specialisations such as AE, CE, Civil Engineering, CSE, EE, ME, Mathematics, Science, etc. The application will be accepted based on the student’s academic background or score in the national-level entrance examinations.
To become eligible for UG courses like B.Tech, students must have passed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% marks. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree is required for a Master’s course. Courses like BTech also accept admission based on Olympiad Training Camps: IMOTC (International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp), OCSCs (Orientation cum Selection Camps) or IOITC (International Olympiad for Informatics Training Camp). Eligible candidates are required to apply before the deadline.

Basic eligibility criteria that an applicant must follow to be accepted in IIT Gandhinagar is Class 12 with PCM and a minimum of 75% for UG courses, and for PG courses, a candidate is required to have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks. In addition to this, candidates are required to have a valid score in the national-level entrance exam. Accepted exams are:

IIT Gandhinagar provides BTech in several specialisations such as EE, Civil Engineering, CSE, CE, Mathematics, Chemistry, etc., at the UG level. The admission is based on Class 12 score and JEE Advanced score. It also accepts admission based on Olympiad Track in either of the subjects, Physics, Chemistry and Maths.
Eligibility criteria: Candidates must have scored a minimum of 75% aggregate in Class 12 with PCM, and have a valid JEE Advanced score.
BTech is the main course at the UG level that is provided at IIT Gandhinagar. The admission is based on JEE Advanced score and Class 12 marks. The basic requirement an applicant is required to fulfil is to have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths being major subjects, must have scored 75% and above, in addition to this, have a valid JEE Advanced score. Admission to this course is also possible through the Olympiad Training Camp. Based on the Olympiad Training Camp, admissions are open for BTech courses, and the last date to fill out the application form is June 2026 (tentative). The BTech course fee range is INR 8,00,000- INR 10,50,000.
MA, MTech, and MSc courses are being offered at the PG level. The basic eligibility criteria is to have a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum required percentage. Admissions are based on national-level entrance exam scores such as JAM Exam for MSc and GATE for MTech. Both exams have already been conducted, and results have been declared as well.
MTech is offered at IIT Gandhinagar as a PG program. Admission will take place after a candidate has completed a Bachelor's degree and qualified GATE entrance exam. GATE results have already been declared on 19 March 2026. Candidates are required to register on COAP for seat allotment, and the COAP registration started on 26 March 2026 and will expected to be around mid-May 2026. Those who have cleared the GATE exam with a valid score can register on COAP before the deadline. The institute also accepts MTech admissions under the Early Admit MTech program; BTech students from any NIT are eligible for Early Admit MTech without any GATE score.
PhD courses at IIT Gandhinagar are available in BSE, CE, Chemistry, Civil Engg., Cognitive Brain Surgery, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, etc. Candidates can apply for the PhD course through the Regular and Continuing Doctoral Program category. Entrants under CDP will be directly admitted to the PhD program. The basic requirement to fulfil is either to have a Master’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 55%. Applicants are required to pay INR 150 (reserved categories) and INR 300 (other categories) as the application fee. The application process started on 11 February 2026, and the written test or an interview was held on 15 April 2026. Candidates completing two years in this program are subject to a monthly fellowship of INR 42,000.
*For all the programs, there is a certain relaxation in the percentage of marks required.
