JAM Exam 2026: The application form for the Joint Admission Test for Master's (JAM) 2026 was released on 5 September 2025, and students have to submit the completed form by 20 October 2025. The application form involves multiple steps, such as registration by filling in details like mobile number, date of birth, email ID, and password. After successfully registering, students have to complete the application process by filling in more details like educational details, personal details, uploading educational documents, and filling out exam centre preference. 

The Joint Admission Test for Master's (JAM) 2026 is a national-level entrance exam for admissions into M.Sc., M.Sc. (Tech.), MS (Research), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., and M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree programs in top Indian institutes. In 2026, the exam will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay). 

The exam has been scheduled for 15 February 2026, and the results will be declared on 20 March 2026. It followed a multiple-choice question pattern with 60 questions totalling 100 marks. Candidates who will successfully qualify will proceed to the counselling process for seat allocation in participating institutions based on their ranks.

The Joint Admission Test for Master's (JAM) 2026 is an important exam conducted for admission into various postgraduate courses related to science. The 2026 examination will be conducted by IIT Bombay and will be held on 15 February 2026 in online mode. 

To be eligible for the exam, students can be of any nationality, and there are no age restrictions for applying to the exam. Students should have completed their qualifying degree by 2026. Candidates who fill out the application form have to pay the application fee for the exam on the official website, which was INR 1000 for Female/SC/ST/PwD for one test paper and INR 1350 for two test papers. The application fee for all other candidates is INR 2000 for one test paper and INR 2700 for two test papers.  

Once the exam has been conducted, IIT Bombay will release the results for JAM 2026 on 20 March 2026* on the official website https://jam2026.iitb.ac.in/, and the counselling process for it will start tentatively in May 2026. Candidates who have qualified will have to register for the counselling process on the portal and fill out their preferred choice.

JAM Exam 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates who want to give the JAM exam in 2026 must get familiar with the eligibility criteria set by IIT Bombay. The examination body sets eligibility criteria for all students who are looking to participate in the examination. Its eligibility criteria are:

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university. No minimum percentage requirement. Final-year students (2025) are eligible.

  • Age Limit: No age restriction.

  • Nationality: Open to Indian and foreign nationals. Foreign candidates must meet additional requirements set by the admitting institute.

  • Additional Requirements: Proof of degree completion as specified by the admitting institute, and submit within the timeline provided by the respective admitting institute.

The IIT Bombay has initiated the application form for JAM 2026 on its official website, and the start date was 5 September 2025. The last date to fill out the form was 20 October 2025, and the candidates were required to register on the portal by entering their details, like mobile number, email ID, and date of birth. After the completion of the registration process, they were required to fill out the academic, personal, and course details. They also need to upload scanned copies of their marksheets, signature, and photograph. IIT Bombay allowed the candidates to correct any discrepancies in the application form till the last date of 10 November 2025. The application fee for the exam will range from INR 1000 to INR 2000, depending on the category of the candidates, and it can be paid online through various payment methods like UPI, debit card, and net banking.

JAM Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme

JAM 2026 is a computer-based test that is conducted for candidates eyeing admission into postgraduate courses in top institutes of India. The exam consists of a total of 60 questions, and it includes MCQ, MSQ, and NAT-type questions. It is of 3 3-hour duration.

JAM 2026 Exam Admit Card

The JAM 2026 admit card was released on 13 January 2026 by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), and students who submit their application form successfully can download it by visiting the official website https://jam2026.iitb.ac.in/. It is recommended that the students download the admit card well before the examination date. They must also carry the hard copy of the admit card and a valid identity proof to the examination centre. The admit card consists of the name of the student, the examination centre name, address, and code, the time of the examination, and the student's signature and photo.

JAM 2026 Exam Answer Key

The provincial answer key for JAM 2026 will be released on the official website after the end of its exam on 15 February 2026. The answer key consists of the correct answers to the questions asked in the examination in all the subjects. Students can check and estimate their score by matching their response with the answer key. If they find any incorrect answers, then they can object till the last week of February 2026. After reviewing all the objections, IIT Bombay will release the final answer key with the result. 

JAM 2026 Exam Result

The result of JAM 2026 will be announced on 20 March 2026. The declaration of results is important in the journey of many aspiring students who want to be admitted into different postgraduate courses in top institutes. The entrance exam will be held on 15 February 2026 in two shifts. The exam results were declared on the official website, and students can check their results by logging in with their details, like roll number, date of birth, a nd password. It is advised that candidates should download and take a copy of the result for further counselling and seat allotment processes.

The cutoff marks are the minimum marks a candidate must score to qualify for the 2026 exam and be eligible for the seat allotment process for getting admission into an institute. IIT Delhi released the JAM 2025 cutoff marks on 19 March 2025. The cutoff marks vary every year depending on the difficulty of the exam and the number of candidates appearing in different categories.
