HC Directed to WBJEEB to Release New Merit List

This was done after the Calcutta High Court directed WBJEEB to release a new merit list of candidates on 7th August. The court ruled that the previous list did not adhere to its OBC reservation order. Justice Kausik Chanda stated in his order that the revised list must allocate 7% reservation for the 66 OBC categories recognized by the West Bengal Backward Classes Commission prior to 2010. He also ordered that the entire process should be completed within 15 days of the order.

The WBJEE 2025 examination took place on April 27 in two sessions, the first from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and the second from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Previously, WBJEE Board Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee had stated that the results would be announced on August 7, 2025.

WBMCC Suspended the NEET UG 2025 Admissions

In a surprising turn of events, the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee has temporarily suspended NEET UG 2025 Round 1 admissions for MBBS and BDS programs until further notice. The move was taken just two days before the round 1 seat allotment results announcement, causing confusion and worry for over 11,000 medical students. The information was transmitted by way of a flash notice on Monday, a day ahead of the expected publication of the seat allotment. This occurred soon after the updated provisional state merit list for the 85% state quota seats was released on August 16.
