
The National Testing Agency or NTA has officially announced that the registration process for JEE Main 2026 will commence in October 2025. This crucial update was published on the NTA’s official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Once the registration period starts, interested candidates will be able to apply for the exam through the portal itself.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is one of India’s most significant engineering entrance exams, serving as a gateway to top institutions such as NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded technical institutes. It also acts as a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Note that once this registration closes, there will be no other chance or way to apply for the examination.
JEE Main 2026 Key Dates and Schedule
As per the official notification, the JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two sessions:
Session 1: January 2026
Session 2: April 2026
Candidates can choose to appear in either one or both sessions. The best score among the two will be considered for final ranking and eligibility.
JEE Main 2026 Registration Process
The registration will be conducted online through the official portal. Candidates must visit jeemain.nta.nic.in to fill out the application form. The process includes:
Filling in personal and academic details
Uploading scanned documents (photograph, signature, category certificate if applicable)
Payment of the application fee via online mode

JEE Main 2026 Latest Document Advisory
NTA has issued a special advisory urging candidates to verify and update key documents before registration begins:
Aadhaar Card: Must reflect the correct name, date of birth (as per Class 10 certificate), and other personal details.
Category Certificate: For candidates applying under reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS), certificates must be issued after April 1, 2025.
PwD Certificate: Candidates with disabilities must possess a valid UDID card.
Incorrect or outdated documents may lead to rejection of the application or complications during counselling.
JEE Main 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for JEE Main 2026, candidates must have certain educational qualifications. The details of the eligibility are discussed below:
Have passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025, or be appearing in 2026.
Have studied Physics, Mathematics, and one additional subject such as Chemistry, Biology, or Technical Vocational Subject.
There is no age limit, but candidates can attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years.
