The TOEFL Exam 2025 (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a globally recognised English proficiency test for non native speakers, conducted by ETS. Students interested in taking admission to English-speaking countries, such as the US, Canada, and the UK, are required to take this test. Some countries even accept TOEFL scores as proof of English language proficiency for visa and immigration applications.
The TOEFL exam is available throughout the year; candidates can check exact dates and availability from the official ETS TOEFL website. Moving further, the TOEFL exam in 2025 is offered in two main options, including the TOEFL iBT Test and the TOEFL iBT Home Edition. There was also a TOEFL iBT Paper Edition option, which is now discontinued. Anyone who has completed their 12th class or equivalent and is interested in studying in English-speaking countries is eligible to apply for the TOEFL.
To apply, the applicant must first create an account on the ETS website and complete the entire registration process. The TOEFL registration process also includes paying the registration fee of INR 17,600 (in India). Candidates should apply at least 2 to 3 months in advance of their desired university deadlines. The regular registration for the TOEFL closes 7 days before the test date. However, they can still do the late registration with an additional fee, which is available up to two days prior. The TOEFL exam tests four key skills, such as Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing, covering all key English language skills. Candidates are given about 2 hours to complete the test.
The TOEFL exam dates for 2025 are offered multiple times in a year, which means candidates have various opportunities to take the test. The test takers can take the test at test centers in various cities, and also from their homes. After selecting the mode of test, candidates can check the available dates, such as July 12, 19, 23, and 26, for the exam centers. TOEFL Exam Admit Card 2025
An admit card is an important document issued by the conducting body of the exam after candidates have completed their registration. However, the case is not the same with the TOEFL exam. In place of a TOEFL physical admit card, candidates receive an email confirmation from ETS, which acts as their admit card. This confirmation must be downloaded and printed, and candidates are required to carry a valid photo ID with this confirmation on the test day.
The TOEFL Exam is a standardized test evaluated by official raters and advanced scoring systems, which means that no formal answer key is released for candidates. This is because the TOEFL test includes not only multiple-choice questions in the Reading and Listening sections. But, it also has Speaking and Writing sections, which are scored based on the quality and content of the candidate’s responses instead of fixed answers. For the Reading and Listening sections, answers are scored by computer, and raw scores are converted to scaled scores depending on the difficulty of the test.
For the Speaking and Writing sections, responses are evaluated by a combination of human raters and AI technology, focusing on aspects like topic development, delivery, grammar, and vocabulary. As a result, candidates do not receive an answer key after the exam. Instead, they receive a detailed score report that shows their performance in each section, with scores ranging from 0 to 30 per section and a total score out of 120.
TOEFL Exam 2025 Results
The TOEFL Exam 2025 results date is not fixed, as the results are released on a rolling basis. Candidates are notified by email when their scores are ready, and they can then log in to their ETS account to view and download the PDF score report. The TOEFL score report provides individual section scores, each ranging from 0 to 30. The total score range is from 0 to 120. These scores are valid for two years from the test date and can be sent directly to universities.
