Tamil Nadu National Law University is one of the popular law Universities located in Tiruchirappalli. The campus is spread over 25 acres, having modern facilities and infrastructure. TNNLU was established in 2012, and the university was established by the Tamil Nadu Act, 2012. TNNLU Tiruchirappalli is approved by UGC and recognised by the Bar Council of India. TNNLU Tiruchirappalli provides Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs in various streams of Law. TNNLU Tiruchirappalli offers two flagship five-year integrated UG Law programs, which are B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com. LL.B.(Hons.) approved by the Bar Council of India. The Institute also offers a one-year LLM degree program and a PhD in Law program.

Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Tamil Nadu National Law University is based on the rank scored in CLAT examinations. Admission for the academic year 2025-26 has been closed on 29 August 2025. The application form for admission in the next academic year will be released soon on the official website.
The Institute offers two undergraduate and one postgraduate courses in different areas of law. Students who secure qualifying marks in CLAT and pass 10+2 with a minimum of 45% (40% for the reserved category) marks are eligible for admission in LLB courses.
TNNLU Tiruchirappalli Postgraduate course admission is based on the marks scored in the CLAT entrance examination. Applicants are required to have passed in 3 years/5 years B.L. or LL.B. or B.L. (Hons) or LL.B. (Hons) or its equivalent B.A.LL.B. having an LLB degree from a recognised university or Institute.

Tamil Nadu National Law University Tiruchirappalli Admission Eligibility 2025
For admission to the B.A. L.L.B. and B.Com L.L.B. course, students must have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria, given below:
Candidates must pass class 10+2 with a minimum of 45% (40% reserved for the SC/ST) marks from a recognised board.
Candidates must appear and secure the qualifying marks and rank in the CLAT examination.
After the declaration of the CLAT result, candidates must register for counselling and apply online through the official website of the TNNLU.
For admission to the LLM course at TNNLU Tiruchirapalli, candidates must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:
Candidates must pass an LLB degree from a recognised university or Institute, with a minimum of 55% (50% for the reserved category).
Candidates must have a valid rank and score card of the CLAT PG entrance examination.
SC/ST candidates can get a 5% relaxation in the graduation degree during the admission process.
For admission to a doctoral degree, candidates must have an LLM/M.Phil or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks. Candidates also must have a valid score card of the CLAT PG entrance examination.

Tamil Nadu National Law University Tiruchirappalli Scholarship 2025
TNNLU Financial Assistance Schemes offer the partial or full waiver of fees on the basis of the financial needs of the eligible and needy students. All the students of the SC/ST category are exempted from the payment of tuition
fees throughout the duration of the Program, as the same is directed by
the Government of Tamil Nadu.
The students admitted under the Tamil Nadu Government School Quota are exempted from all the fees, except refundable deposits. Eligible students can apply for the various scholarships provided by the Central or State Government. Similarly, candidates from BC, MBC and DNC categories may apply to scholarship schemes of the Backwards Classes, Most Backwards Classes and the Denotified Communities Welfare Department of the Tamil Nadu Government.
Eligible candidates of Tamil Nadu who are first graduates in their families can apply for the first graduate scholarship. Eligible minority students apply to the Minorities Welfare Department for scholarships.
